After its launch into Australia last year, Creamfields Australia is back bigger and better for Easter 2011. The Totem Onelove crew (also behind the Stereosonic festival) are committed to bringing you some of the world’s best acts, utilizing some of the best venues in Australia, amazing production and value for money in ticket pricing.

Totem Onelove (Hardware Corp and Onelove Music Group), are pleased to announce the main headliner for Creamfields 2011: Deadmau5 with the full live show (with LED Mau5 head and new production), designed by the people who brought the world Daft Punks’ legendary live show!! Deadmau5 is one of the biggest acts in the world with countless productions, and has been stunning audiences worldwide with this live light & videoshow. This is the first time he has brought his show, LED Mau5head and concert level production to Australia.

Another year and another smash hit for Frenchman Martin Solveig, all over the radio and TV with ‘Hello’ Martin will be shooting an exclusive video at Creamfields Australia. Skrillex is one of the hottest producers at the moment, owning 7 out of 10 spots on the Beatport chart in November 2010. Chuckie is one of the most in demand acts in the world with his Dutch House weapons. Simon Patterson one of the new school guys of trance has jumped up in the DJ Mag rankings and blown away crowds at major festivals including Trance Energy around the world. Gabriel and Dresden are one of the most revered acts in the Trance/Progressive world and haven’t toured for many years. Wynter Gordonhas had a massive few months, ‘Dirty Talk’ topping the Aria Charts and will be performing live at Creamfields. Hi Tek Soul is the new project for Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May, the original Detroit Legends together for 3 hours at each show. After sellout club shows across Australia, DJs, remixers and producers the Bingo Playersreturn for Creamfields after a busy end to 2010 and start of 2011. Top 3 Psy Trance act Skazi return to Australia with a new album due in March: ‘Time to feed the animals.’ French Wunderkid Surkin is back in Australia with a new live show. Electronic Duo Dada Life are from Sweden. Check out their latest album ‘Do the Dada.’ Umek is one of the techno massives favourite acts, get set for Umek at all shows. Nadastrom The collective brainchild of Washington, D.C. natives Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom. Emerging duo experiencing significant buzz. i.e. The debut release from Nadastrom sold out on vinyl and became a digital store annual bestseller. One of the buzz acts of 2010 was Round Table Knights, a huge year on dancefloors, charts and touring. At a time when techno is marketed in the same way as a sci-fi blockbuster, it’s possible for every aspiring DJ to have the same playlist as their idol with just a few mouse clicks, the mysterious Sandwell District label is pushing in the opposite direction, putting some distance between the artist and the audience. London based Tim Green is one of those producers who doesn’t turn in a lot of filler tracks. His unique style and flair shine for all to see when the 25 year old puts his music out there. After a decade in the business Bart Claessen knows a thing or two about trance. Over the last eight years he’s been responsible for huge club hits, international chart smashes and sub-genre defining releases. If there is one thing you can’t blame Mumbai Science for it’s a lack of imagination. At only 24, the duo already have a decade worth of creative experimenting behind them.

The countdown is on Australia! Creamfields will return with larger stages and epic production, with the first Cream event stadium show, ‘Planet Cream’, in Adelaide. Brisbane will see a new venue this year, the RNA Showgrounds as we move to a larger capacity with a new site configuration for Melbourne.

Amaya Laucirica celebrates the release of her latest double a-side single ‘Sleeping In Your Shadow / Anywhere She Went’ with a string of national support shows.

Fresh from recently sharing the stage with Blonde Redhead and Holly Miranda, Amaya will play 16 dates including Sydney, Geelong, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Adelaide, Tasmania and Brisbane when she tours nationally supporting Adalita in March/April/May.

Amaya Laucirica released her well-received second album ‘Early Summer‘ in late 2010. The album was selected as ‘Album of the Week’ on Triple J last November.

PROPAGANDHI AUSTRALIAN TOUR, MAY 2011

Secret internal cables released early Monday morning by controversial whistle-blower website Wikileaks, have provoked an unprecedented 694-day debate in Australian Parliament.

The cables suggest, contrary to public pronouncements from the Gillard government, that the unbelievably good looking Canadian hard rock band Propagandhi have no time-line for withdrawal from their extremely unpopular mission in Australia.

Propagandhi have warned against handing over responsibility for security in Australia to any of the completely self-serving total assholes that tend to get involved in federal politics in the first place, insisting the transition must be tailored to the conditions on the ground.

Social Distortion – Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes [CD Review]

Social Distortion has managed to create an aura around themselves over the last three decades that has placed them into the realms of punk rock royalty. Perhaps it’s the ice cool, slicked hair, hotrodder image of Mike Ness but more likely it has more to do with the band’s uncanny knack for writing sweet, sweet country-infused, rockabilly punk rock.

It’s been a number of years between drinks for ‘Social Distortion. Their last album was 2004’s ‘Sex, Love and Rock’N’Roll’ – a stunning disc that no doubt left the guys wondering if they could ever top

themselves. The extended pause could also be the result of Mike Ness’ various other distractions like the aforementioned custom cars and his other musical projects including the awesome countrified Mike Ness Band.

Following his fifth European tour, Melbourne-based international dream-folk troubadour Pete Uhlenbruch (aka Owls of the Swamp) is set to release his second full-length album, Go with River in mid 2011. The songs were recorded during a five-week solitary stint in a beach shack in Inverloch, Victoria, infusing the album with a captivating, spellbinding pace.

Fleshing out his reflections on solitude and nature, Uhlenbruch evoked guest performances from a worldwide cast of musicians before enlisting the masterful ears of J. Walker (from Machine Translations) and Andy Stewart who mixed the album in Gippsland., and Adam Dempsey who mastered the album in Melbourne.

Birds of Tokyo – Queensland Shows – May 2011 [Gig News]

Having recently been hailed for their killer live performances across the Big Day Out tour, Birds Of Tokyo now announce two Queensland shows for May 2011. The band will play The Tivoli in Brisbane on Wednesday May 11 and the Lake Kawana Community Centre on the Sunshine Coast, Thursday May 12.

Birds of Tokyo need no introduction. In 2010 the band released their chart topping self titled third studio album which is still sitting comfortably in the top 20 eight months after release with sales well surpassed platinum.

ARIA 2010 wholesale sales figures shows greatest growth in digital products!

17th February 2011 (SYDNEY) – Figures released by The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) today have demonstrated the continued strong growth of digital products, with both number of units sold and dollar value up more than 30%. This increase in popularity for digital tracks and albums saw overall quantity of units sold across the last calendar year grow by nearly 10%, whilst the industry’s overall dollar value was down 13.9% on 2009.

The trend towards digital has prevailed over the last three years; digital tracks selling 24.9 million units in 2008 compared with nearly 50 million in 2010 and the value of digital albums more than doubling over the same three year period. From 2009 to 2010, digital tracks have increased in value by 47% and digital albums by 45%.

The Getaway Plan with Tonight Alive @ Metro Theatre, Sydney 11 February 2011 [Live Review]

It’s not surprising The Getaway Plan sold out two shows in one day at the Metro Theatre, they were at the height of their career when the announcement was made that they were breaking up, and the anticipation to see whether they still rock built up a big response to this reformation tour. Joining them on tour were Melbourne friends Secrets In Scale and Sydney band Tonight Alive.

Managing to catch the end of Secrets In Scale, general consensus from the crowd was that they played a decent set and really got everyone pumped for the remainder of the night.

Tonight Alive took to the stage to a loud and excited audience. Rarely do I witness such enthusiasm for a support band, but Tonight Alive took it right in their stride and used that energy to their advantage pushing the same amount of energy, if not more, right back out at the audience in order to create an incredibly impressive set. They played something to please everyone, old song, new song, love song, heavy song, sing-a-long song. Tracks included My Favourite Thing, Revenge and its Thrills and closed out with Wasting Away, but the highlight for many was a cover song ‘In My Eyes’, the original by band Rufio. A notable set from this fitting support act who in no time will be headlining venues such as the Metro I’m sure.

Seeing the audience during the changeover time between bands reminded me of being a little mosh teenager sweating it out at the front just to be in a good spot for my favourite band. Even though this was the over 18’s show, people were going nuts pushing and shoving during the whole half hour trying to be front and centre for The Getaway Plan. Expecting them to come out and smash us with a hit, the set began with the melodic ‘Move Along’, a new song, that somehow super-fans already knew the words to. Soon enough they did break out into songs ‘Streetlight’, ‘Sleep Spindles’ and ‘New Medicine’ from their album Other Voices, Other Rooms. Four tracks in and the stage backdrop lit up with fairy lights, it was a bit of an ‘aww’ moment.

It was clear by now that The Getaway Plan were enjoying playing together again, and that their time apart doing other projects has massively improved their dynamic as a band. Noticeable improvements both musically and performance wise from guitarist Clint, who has been playing with The Amity Affliction whilst being on a break from TGP. The announcement from singer Matthew Wright that the band are in the process of recording a new album received an overwhelming response from the crowd, only fueling the fact that their popularity is going to increase second time round. The set built in intensity throughout the show, ‘Red Flag’ was a definite highlight with Wright getting his scream on and the band breaking down that song and just ripping like I’ve never heard them before. Another new song made it into the setlist and Wrights voice may have been tiring from the former song, as he introduced back onto the stage the singer from Tonight Alive to lend her killer vocals to this one. The band closed out the set with an old favourite ‘Where The City Meets The Sea’ which triggered a loud sing-a-long, to the point where Wrights voice was almost unheard. Inspired by the ever-waiting audience, TGP returned to the stage for a two song encore comprising of two more from their debut album, ended the night perfectly.

This band has reaffirmed their place in the Australian music scene, and no doubt their next record will take off as their first one did, lets hope they stick together for the long run this time round.
