The new PHIL SMITH album “Year Of The Dog” is without an emotional filter. It is stripped bare on every level in the great tradition of albums like Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon” and Ryan Adam’s “Heartbreaker”.
Since it’s release, “Year Of The Dog” has been receiving rave reviews with particular favor towards PHIL’S well-crafted songwriting. Noel Mengel from The Courier Mail described PHIL SMITH’S music as “a beautifully understated example of Americana songcraft.”

Hailing from the remote island of Tasmania, Psycroptic have progressively carved a niche all their own within today’s overcrowded Metal scene. Staying clear of trends, the band incorporate many elements of music – extreme or otherwise – to capture a sound that is uniquely their own. She’s starred in a BBC produced celebration of the music of Sandy Denny. Joan also appeared on Orchestral Variations V.01 by The Separate (aka producer / engineer Rob Kirwan), reimaging the Smiths’ The Night Has Opened My Eyes. But most crucially she’s returned to the studio to create her most striking LP yet, The Classic. Critics and fans are united in their praise of an album that one scribe said was best experienced with lights out, eyes closed, headphones on. This is music to get lost in.
