Hot off the heels of a spectacular summer of sold-out concerts and rocking the opening of the Commonwealth Games before a worldwide audience of more than 1.5 billion viewers, Rod Stewart today confirmed that he’s bringing “The Hits,” to Australia and New Zealand in 2015.
Frontier Touring unveiled the legendary rockers itinerary which includes nine concerts in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Dunedin, Auckland, plus special outdoor concerts at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley and the iconic Hanging Rock in Macedon. Notably Rod will be the first artist to have performed at Hanging Rock on multiple tours.
Tickets to see Rod Stewart ‘The Hits’ Tour go on sale on Tuesday 16 September. Visit www.frontiertouring.com/rodstewart for more details. Stewart’s touring Australia for the first time since 2012 in Australia; and for New Zealand, Rod’s last visits were in 2012 at Mission Estate and 2008 for two massive nights at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
“I’m thrilled to be returning to Australia and New Zealand next year,” Rod Stewart remarked. “The audiences are some of the best in the world and I’m looking forward to being at my most Scottish for my first ever concert in Dunedin.”
Stewart’s just completed summer tour was named by Rolling Stone (US) and USA Today as one of the Hottest Tours of Summer – wowing fans with a hits-packed, high-energy concert which includes 4-decades of his iconic hits including “Maggie May,” “You Wear it Well,” “Hot Legs,” “Sailing,” “You’re in My Heart,” “Do You Think I’m Sexy,” “Some Guys Have All the Luck,” “Young Turks,” “Forever Young,” and many more.
With his singular voice, narrative songwriting and passionate live performances, Rod Stewart has built one of the most successful and enduring music careers of all time. In a career spanning more than five decades, he has amassed sales of more than 200 million albums worldwide and has countless chart-topping hits and industry accolades – including two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007, he was bestowed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen of England. In May 2013, Stewart released Time, his first rock album in a dozen years, on Capitol Records. The album features 11 original tracks and marks Rod’s return to songwriting after nearly two decades. Time entered the UK Albums Chart at No. 1, setting a new British record for the longest gap between chart-topping albums by an artist — and in the US, it marked Stewart’s highest-charting album of original material since 1979. In addition to touring, Stewart headlines one of Las Vegas’ most critically and commercially successful residencies at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Joining Rod on the tour is local legend James Reyne. Performing hits from both Australian Crawl and his extensive solo career, James is no stranger to the top of the charts, selling in excess of 2 million albums since 1979 and boasting hits such as Reckless, Boys Light Up and Motor’s Too Fast. James Reyne will set the vibe for a massive night of back to back hits from both artists.
