OWLS OF THE SWAMP new single ‘SO FAR AWAY’

So Far Away (single edit) by Owls of the Swamp

Following his fifth European tour, Melbourne-based international dream-folk troubadour Pete Uhlenbruch (aka Owls of the Swamp) is set to release his second full-length album, Go with River in mid 2011. The songs were recorded during a five-week solitary stint in a beach shack in Inverloch, Victoria, infusing the album with a captivating, spellbinding pace.

Fleshing out his reflections on solitude and nature, Uhlenbruch evoked guest performances from a worldwide cast of musicians before enlisting the masterful ears of J. Walker (from Machine Translations) and Andy Stewart who mixed the album in Gippsland., and Adam Dempsey who mastered the album in Melbourne.

Veteran Hard Rockers King Kobra are back with a venomous new album

Frontiers Records has announced the release of the Self-Titled come back album from KING KOBRA on April 15th in Europe and May 5th in North America.

Formed in 1984 by legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne), Los Angeles heavy metal outfit King Kobra recorded two critically acclaimed albums for Capitol Records – the 1985 release ‘Ready to Strike’ and 1986’s ‘Thrill of a Lifetime‘.

Along with Carmine, the band featured four relatively unknown musicians at the time – David Michael-Philips and Mick Sweda on guitar, Johnny Rod on bass and Mark Free on lead vocals. A Day To Remember and Underoath – Australian Tour – May 2011 [Tour News]

With Brisbane selling out in under a day we are thrilled to announce that the Sydney show has now sold out as well! Never one for resting on their laurels, A Day To Remember will now be playing a second and definitely FINAL Sydney show on Saturday 14 May at the Big Top, Luna Park.

The ability to evolve and push boundaries has never been more important than it is now. While the mainstream becomes safer, the dynamic, genre-bending acts are driven underground, to be discovered by a whole new generation of music fans not content with the identikit bands pushed at them through the major media. It is this hallowed place that A DAY TO REMEMBER has not-so-subtly taken over, from stereos to mosh pits across the world.

Andrew McMahon @ Metro Theatre, Sydney 12 February 2011 [Live Review]

Review: Amy Lee Freshwater

Being a Jack’s Mannequin fan, and an even bigger Something Corporate fan, I was eagerly looking forward to seeing frontman Andrew McMahon perform a solo show at the Metro this year. Notably, so were quite a few others as the Metro was packed to its borders with people ready to sing their night away in one massive choir, which is exactly what they did…

All equipped with a beautiful black grand piano, a corona and a small budda sitting on top and Bobby Anderson assisting on acoustic guitar and backing vocals. McMahon began the evening with a Jack’s Mannequin song contrary to an audience members request of ‘The Lion King’, a comment which McMahon was quite amused by. We heard As You Sleep, followed by Crashin’ and then Swim, which by now had both McMahon and the crowds vocal chords well and truly warmed up.

Former Tea Party frontman JEFF MARTIN forms new band with J Cortez (The Sleepy Jackson/The Armada) and Malcolm Clarke (The Sleepy Jackson/The Basement Birds).

The Jeff Martin 777 project officially came together in 2010. While Jeff spent the majority of the year touring constantly both here & abroad, inbetween shows, Jeff, J (bass) and long-time friend Malcolm (drums) would come together to knock out songs at Malcolm’s Yo-Yo Studio in Perth. The end result sees this super-tight trio come up trumps with their debut studio album, The Ground Cries Out.

Parkway Drive “The Mix N’ Mash Tour” May 2011 [Tour News]

Winston McCall   “I think the name of the tour says it all” says Parkway Drive vocalist Winston McCall. “When we first started going to shows we we’re stoked to be able to see a bunch of bands that we liked, but also that may not sound exactly the same. These days it seems every tour has become so stream lined to one particular sound you may as well be watching the same band play four or five times in a row”. “This tour has a bit of everything for anyone who like’s their music a little faster, a little more energetic, something local, something punk, something heavy, something rock, and then us hahaha. It’s everything we love, and we couldn’t be more siked”

You Me At Six frontman Josh Franceschi commented “We’re really happy to announce that we’ll be hitting Australia with our boys in Parkway Drive. The shows are going to be HUUUGGGEEE, so if you like either of our bands head down. Ripper!

The Dandy Warhols – Australian tour announced! May 2011 [Tour News]

Stand back!
The Bohemians are coming!

THE DANDY WARHOLS first garnered international attention in 1997 with the world’s catchiest anti-heroin song, “Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth.” However it was their brilliant third album ‘Thirteen-tales-from-urban-bohemia’ that catapulted them into the stratosphere.

Alternative Press called it “a scattershot bagful of wild rides and demented ditties and an album of maniacal depth and vision” whilst MTV described it as “a real piece of art, with an unmistakably original sound and incisive storytelling.”
