KONGOS Announce Australian Tour Dates

unnamedKONGOS are pleased to announce their first Australian dates with very special guests KINGSWOOD. The four sons of South African singer John Kongos (whose song ‘He’s Gonna Step On You Again’ was the basis for The Happy Mondays’ ‘Step On’) have been making waves of their own as a family band, scaling the US charts with their million-selling single ‘Come With Me Now’.

This US smash-hit single spent five consecutive weeks at no.1 on the Billboard Alternative Chart in America, beating Lorde’s ‘Royals’ in the process to become the fastest-ever ascent to Number One by a debut artist in US chart history.

Q&A with Hannah Rosa

HR RND
Brisbane songstress Hannah Rosa has taken time out from her own Headline Tour of South East Queensland to answer a few questions for Life Music Media.

:: What track changed your life ::

This is a pretty big call… Off the top of my head I’d probably have to say ‘Space They Cannot Touch’ by Kate Miller Heidke. I saw her perform at Woodford Folk Festival when I was a kid and she is a major reason I started writing songs.

:: What is your favourite Album ::

I actually don’t have one all-time favourite album! It changes all the time. My more recent faves include Megan Washington’s “There There”, Lucy Rose’s “Like I Used To” and Lorde’s “Pure Heroine”.

Live Review | Reece Mastin – ‘Wolf In The Woods’ Tour @ Newcastle Panthers – September 26, 2014

Review by David Jackson

Reece Mastin
The Newcastle Panthers auditorium was full of young eager fans on Friday night ready to rock out with Reece Mastin.

Supporting Reece is three piece outfit “The Kin”. This band is solid and entertaining, the fact the drummer does not use sticks, they have no bass and the band opted to move the show to the floor which looked more like a religious chant than a concert only added to the night.

NOFX Announce Australian Tour – November 2014 – Supports Announced

nofx

NOFX formed in Los Angeles back in 1983, a helluva year for new bands and one that gave birth to Alcatrazz, Trixter, White Lion, and any number of bands that are completely defunct and irrelevant in this day and age. That alone says something about NOFX‘s enduring popularity. Maybe they lasted this long because they were forged in the same fiery furnaces of the L.A. hardcore scene that gave us Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies, Germs and Descendents. NOFX sharpened their teeth in that tumultuous talent pool until they joined forces with Epitaph in 1989 and went on to release a string of crucial punk records. Their first major breakthrough came in the form of 1990’s Ribbed, still a fan favorite, followed up by now-classics White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean and Punk in Drublic, the latter selling well over a million copies. That was a wildly successful decade for NOFX as the band popularized the Warped Tour and was the flagship band for the skate/surf/snow culture of the 1990’s.

Cold War Kids Announce Falls Festival sideshows

cwkCold War Kids have added Melbourne and Sydney headline dates around Falls festival, ahead of the release of their fifth album ‘Hold My Home’.

‘Hold My Home’ was produced by guitarist Dan Gallucci and Lars Stalfors (Mars Volta, Matt and Kim) at the band’s own studio in San Jose, California.

The Los Angeles four-piece elevate their passionate take on indie rock having morphed effortlessly from the buzz band that brought us ‘Hang Me Up To Dry’ and ‘Hospital Beds’ to the distinguished single machine we see before us. Blessed with that reedy, urgent cry of a voice, lead singer Nathan Willett and his erstwhile cohorts have never been far from our hearts and radios with tunes like ‘Something Is Not Right With Me’, ‘Louder Than Ever’, ‘Miracle Mile’ and newest single ‘All This Could Be Yours’ (taken from their latest album) never failing to impress.
