EVIL EDDIE ‘East Coast’ Tour – February | March 2011 [Tour News]

After blitzing, wooing and sometimes insulting the crowds at the Peats Ridge and Woodford Festivals at the end of 2010 in what was his live solo debut, ex-Butterfingers front man Evil Eddie is set to hit the road again in February and March for a run of East Coast shows.
On the tour, which includes shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, Evil brings with him an all star Brisbane based backing band which boasts members of Butterfingers, Laneous and the Family Yah and Spitfireliar. Since the release of his first single ‘Queensland’ at the end of last year, Eddie has been causing quite a stir around the country. |

The Holidays announce April tour with guests Gold Fields [Tour News]
Sydney band The Holidays have announced they’ll be taking their dreamy, palm tree jams on the road again with a national headline tour in April.

The band’s self produced, debut album Post Paradise, has proven to be a critic’s favourite and ended last year picking up The Age EG award for ‘Best Album’ and landing the year’s final Triple J Feature Album. The album also received “Album of the Week” in Drum Media, Beat Magazine, BMA Mag & The Brag, while Post Paradise has already delivered alternative radio favourites Broken Bones, Golden Sky and Moonlight Hours. |

The Frontier Touring Company advise of changes to the upcoming Kings Of Leon March tour dates. The Brisbane performance at QSAC Stadium will now take place at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 8 March; the Sydney ACER Arena performance on Tuesday 8 March will be rescheduled to Friday 11 March; the Adelaide Oval’s Sunday 13 March performance will now take place at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre with no change to the date.
Upon the tour announcement late last year, fans were rapt at the news that one of the world’s biggest bands would be performing across the country and the excitement continues to build as the March dates draw closer. |

Day two of Sunset Sounds 2011 arrives, bringing with it steady rain and a forecast of nothing but. Organisers have spread sand over some of the affected areas, but when I arrive on Thursday afternoon the damage that the combination of thousands of feet and a whole lot of rain did to the grounds yesterday is easily apparent. Areas that were grassy are now plains of squelchy mud ready to snatch unsuspecting thongs from feet and disappear them forever and the paths we traversed yesterday are now boasting small streams of rainwater.

Mystery Jets @ The Hi-Fi, Brisbane – Live Review

The afternoon of Friday January 7, 2011, had been a classically humid one for Brisbane. Undoubtedly much unlike the weather English pop-rock group Mystery Jets are accustomed to finding at home in Eel Pie Island, the heavens opened on the evening that they were set to play the city’s Hi-Fi Bar with local support Tin Can Radio. Not even off-putting weather, however, could dampen the splendid performance they gave, the memory of the night burnt into fans’ consciousness for a long time to come. |
Brisbane’s Hi-Fi Bar was only sparsely occupied as Tin Can Radio took to the stage. Merry and casual, they took their time setting up, waiting while the drummer’s girlfriend rushed in with a forgotten cymbal. Regardless of the meagre crowd, the five bought out their characteristic liveliness and played a short but ferocious set that in the end had the audience on their feet and clapping along.
