There are few self-managed independent Australian acts that can state, they’ve toured with the likes of Santana & Lauryn Hill, been broadcast live worldwide performing at Al Gore’s 2007 Live Earth and toured across the world captivating crowds, filling rooms & rocking festivals, from Sydney to LA, NY to London, Tokyo to Montreal, Berlin to Melbourne. |
An international touring schedule took off following the success of early singles and a decision was made in 2009 to push the release of their highly anticipated sophomore record ‘Worldwize’ into 2010 (in store August 20), allowing the band to embrace some exciting collaborative opportunities that arose.
The fresh infectious groove of ‘Women’s Revolution’ is up first. The single and video features one of Jamaica’s most respected, chart topping artists, Queen Ifrica. It blends Blue King Brown’s urban-roots sound with a harder edge. While Natalie’s Pa’apa’a’s distinctive voice proves her ability in both the hard hitting styles and the smooth hooks.
‘Women’s Revolution’ was recorded, and the film clip shot, in both Kingston and Melbourne. Working with engineer Collin ‘Bulby’ York (Cyndi Lauper, Jimmy Cliff, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Madonna, Michael Franti, UB40, Sly & Robbie) and three time Grammy Winning Producer/Engineer James ‘Bonzai’ Caruso (Madonna, Stephen Marley, Gwen Stefani, Nas and Damian Marley), Blue King Brown are once again pushing genre boundaries and creating a fresh and unique sound, to explode onto the Australian market and spread their word to the world.
Natalie states “The song draws inspiration from the day-to-day female leaders in our world. It also identifies and reinforces the philosophy that the best way to effect change in communities of developing nations is to educate, support and encourage the young female population, as they are most commonly the ones who grow up to be the anchors and teachers within their families and extended community. Queen Ifrica is one of Jamaica’s most gifted female artists and it has been incredible to have her collaborate with Blue King Brown. Feel it!”
Blue King Brown have rocked just about every festival this country has to offer and have fast become one of Australia’s most acclaimed live acts. Get ready because they are about to open up a whole new chapter…
