It’s been a heady year for eclectic Melbourne duo, The Stiffys. The band have released two new singles (‘Kick Another Flip’ and ‘Kissy Kissy’) from their forthcoming, highly anticipated EP ‘ART ROCK ONE’ (due for release in September), toured the country extensively with the likes of The Beards, very publicly terminated their working relationship with Passion Pop and flirted incessantly with ladies on social media.
The release of the band’s most recent single ‘Kissy Kissy’, saw the band receive rave reviews from media nationally with the video receiving support from both Rage and Channel V whilst Triple J Unearthed jumped behind the single with radio play. ART ROCK ONE will feature three incredible brand new tracks, with a fresh single coming in August ahead of the EP release.
To coincide with the release of the band’s brand new EP ‘ART ROCK ONE’ which will be released September 10 2015, The Stiffys are proud to announce they will be heading back out on the road for a string of headline show dates kicking off in Brisbane for their ART ROCK ONE TOUR!
“WE’VE DECIDED TO SPLIT OUR ART ROCK RECORD OVER TWO EP’S BECAUSE HONESTLY WE ARE SO FAR AHEAD OF THE CURVE RIGHT NOW WE JUST NEED TO GIVE EVERYBODY SOME TIME TO CATCH UP ALSO RECORDING TIME IS PRETTY EXPENSIVE FOR AN INDEPENDENT BAND,” said guitarist Jason Leigh.
“WE CAN’T SAY TOO MUCH ABOUT ART ROCK ONE UNTIL IT COMES OUT BUT WE CAN SAY THAT IT CONTAINS OUR MOST BOLD WORK YET IN THE FORM OF A SONG CALLED SPACE BLOG WHICH IS BASICALLY ABOUT WRITING BLOGS IN SPACE.”
Drummer Adam Stagg explains that taking time off from the road to make ‘ART ROCK ONE’, while extremely productive, left the band ravenous for a return to the live circuit.
“WE’RE SO EXCITED TO GO ON TOUR AGAIN BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE A TOURING ROCK AND ROLL BAND PEOPLE GIVE YOU FREE DRINKS AND INTERSTATE PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE REALLY EXOTIC IT’S SO GREAT BEING IN A BAND GUYS NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.”
“WE’D LIKE TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT THE STIFFYS’ SHOWS ARE NOW BYO BOOGIE BOARD BECAUSE SECURITY KEEP TAKING THEM OFF US AND HONESTLY WE ARE HAEMORRHAGING MONEY ON THESE THINGS I MEAN OUR AGENT SAYS WE SHOULD JUST BUY CHEAPER BOARDS BUT NO WAY WE WOULD NEVER SHORT CHANGE OUR FANS LIKE THAT IT’S TOP OF THE LINE OR NOTHING FOR YOUR BOYS THE STIFFYS,” said Stagg.
