THE BOYS to play The Zoo, Brisbane – 5th October 2011

THE BOYS began with six girls – who grew up beating the boys in the play ground and singing Nirvana classics into the mirror. They were drawn to one another with the common goal that music of the 2000’s had become too generic – every song sounded like a rip off of another – and wished to bring back the late 1990’s bohemian grunge sound! The Boys revive the grunge scene of the 1990’s with powerful guitar solos, driving synth and passionately, dirty lyrics. They provide an energetic show that’ll bring out the “angsty teen” in every listener. Their influences include: Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Bikini Kill, Garbage, The Breeders and Jeff Buckley.

Supported by NOVELLA BEGGARS, a radical mix of alternative, post punk, experimental, minimal electro. These young boys have torn up stages at entertainment centers, festivals and the most intimate shows all in one year. They’ve released a 3 track EP via bandcamp and are currently writing their debut self titled album set to be released mid-next year. Their shows are explosive, progressive and expressive, don’t miss out.

Forming in April 2011, Brisbane’s WILLOWS headed straight to the studio to record their first 3 song EP. After spending the past few months at ‘The Docking Studios’ with Steve Bartlett, the band has presented a 3 song EP that has a solid punchy sound involving an alternative spin to the modern day rock scene. With the five members of Willows having being experienced in all areas of the musical scene, they blend their ideas and styles together to make an individual sound, but still hold fast to the catchy rock ballads that the musicians are renowned for.
