Kate Martin ‘Apples’ Single and Film Clip

Poetic, alternative-folk songbird, Kate Martin, has released her new single, Apples, along with a debut music video. Apples is the first single from Kate’s sophomore album, due for release in early 2012.

Since the release of her debut album, Synthetic Shoes, Leather Boots in June last year, Kate and her band The Shallow sea Choir, has been exploring territories outside of her musical comfort zone. The inspiration for this transformation was upon discovering an old Fender Stratocaster in a junk shop in Townsville, Kate’s hometown. Falling in love with a new guitar and a new sound, Kate began writing and recording her new album. 18 months of writing and recording features lush and complex instrumentation, her gifted melodies with beautiful layered harmonies.

Kate Martin has been busily building her live repertoire in the last few years, despite the distance involved in travelling from Townsville in North Queensland. Kate has played alongside The Middle East, The Waifs, Bluejuice, Founds, Little Birdy, Hungry Kids Of Hungary and Ash Grunwald.

The Apples film clip, directed by Timothy Melville (Big Scary, Box Rockets), tells the story of a band adventure in the peaceful countryside of Woodstock, Victoria; filled with road trips, picnics and abandoned houses. The clip reflects of Kate Martin and The Shallow Sea Choir, not only as musicians but as people. You’ll find yourself wanting to pack a bag and go on a trip with this one!

Apples is a taste of the eclectic and intimate upcoming release for Kate Martin, due for national release in early 2012.
