Life Music Media invites you to Amanthi Lynch (Skipping Girl Vinegar) |
What track changed your life ::
Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. Gut wrenching.
:: What is your favourite Album ::
Ladies of the Canyon by Joni Mitchell.
:: Favourite Quote ::
Keep Calm, Carry the Monkey. It’s the name of our 2nd album. Try slipping it into conversation.
:: When on tour, you can’t live without ::
Our brand new travel iron. It really is a revolution and his name is Jeremy.
:: When you think of Australia, you think ::
It’s pretty amazing and diverse and we’re lucky we get to see a lot of it on tour. It also has a lot of pie shops that claim to be the best pies but this isn’t always the case.
:: Worst thing to happen to music is ::
Illegal downloads, closure of good music venues and Australian Idol.
:: Best thing about the current music industry ::
Bands on social media. Love a good TwitPic.
:: Biggest influence ::
My family and friends and Ms Watson, my high-school English teacher who got me into writing. She was a feminist and would call me A-woman-thi.
:: Childhood hero ::
My mum. She’s reliable, loving, a great cook and loves shopping. You can’t go wrong with that!
:: When you were younger you wanted to be ::
a buyer of expensive furnishings, I would browse catalogues and make lists.
:: Last album bought ::
The Harrow and the Harvest by Gillian Welch
:: First album you ever bought ::
The Kylie Collection on cassette
:: First concert you went to ::
I really wanted it to be New Kids on the Block but wasn’t allowed so I guess it was You Am I at The Forum when I was a little older.
:: Last concert you went to ::
Sufjan Stevens at the State Theatre. Best gig I’ve ever been to.
:: Favourite current band ::
Kid Sam– we’ve had Kieran Ryan on tour with us and it’s been nice to hear some of these tracks stripped back.
:: Favourite drink ::
Flat white, one sugar thanks.
:: Favourite book ::
A bit of a blur by Alex James
:: Favourite actor ::
Matt Damon
:: Favourite website ::
Wikipedia
:: The best boredom buster is ::
Tetris. Really helps with packing rental cars on tour with our gear.
:: The best film you ever saw was ::
The Sound of Music– Julie Andrews what a legend.
:: Your ultimate snack is ::
French style Mussels and a baguette.
:: The first thing you do when you wake up is ::
Check my phone to see if anyone loves me.
:: Best piece of advice you’ve received ::
Slow down and don’t react straight away. Sit on an idea.
:: Your biggest aspirations ::
To grow as a song-writer
:: Best/worst gift you’ve ever given/received? Best Received ::
Food Processor- great for baking for the tour. Worst Received: handmade jewellery with cheap beads. Best given: I like buying good albums for people. Worst given: I like buying clothes but sometimes I get the size wrong. It can be a little awkward when they realize what I’ve bought for them is too tight.
:: What is next for Skipping Girl Vinegar? ::
A new film clip for ‘You Can’ hot off the press, a short break from touring to open our bag of snail mail, followed by a show at West Gippsland Arts Centre, Victoria on 26th August and more touring around the country.
