Interview: POLAR – The New Noise

Interview: Kenada Quinlan

Approximately 24 months old, POLAR are a hardcore statement that are already making waves across Europe while securing suport slots with the likes of Gallows. Part of an ever increasing UK hardcore pack, this 5-piece from Guilford, England obliterate the boundaries of hardcore bringing guts, melody and musical intelligence to the fold.

Off the back of the band’s recent signing to independent label A Wolf At Your Door Records, an excited Life Music Media (LMM) catches up with vocalist Adam Woodford (AW) to talk all things hard, fast, loud and Jager.

LMM – How have the last 12 months been?

AW – The last 12 months have been amazing, we have put alot of work into our live performance with various tours with great bands such as It Prevails and Heart in Hand.
We are really proud of our first EP which is called ‘This Polar Noise’ this then got us noticed by Wolf At Your Door and has led us to be signed with our first release to be out in February 2011.

LMM – The most memorable experience…

AW – The most memorable experience we have had is being main support for Bring Me The Horizon for there album launch, it was a very good experience to play with one of the biggest bands in the world and to much younger audience which was a challenge and we feel we won over some new fans.

LMM – Can you tell us about the song-writing process…

Bring Me the Horizon “There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret” – CD Review

Review: Ben Hosking
Bring Me the Horizon (BMTH) have divided opinions since their arrival on the scene with 2006’s ‘Count Your Blessings’. While they certainly have their legion of fans – as evidenced by their recent chart success here in Australia – many more have been very vocal about their ‘hate’ for the Sheffield, England quintet.

2008’s ‘Suicide Season’ did well to win over some of the haters with its focused deathcore approach. However, it will be their newest release ‘There Is a Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let’s Keep It a Secret’ that will turn the tide for BMTH.

Only young tykes when they started, BMTH have clearly done some growing in the intervening six years. The addition of Jona Weinhofen (Bleeding Through) on guitars, backing vocals, keys and programming in 2009 has also brought a welcome intricacy and depth to their sound.

Trivium UK Tour March 2010

Metal masters Trivium are pleased to confirm a massive 16-date UK headline tour in March 2010, in support of current album Shogun. Special guests for the Into The Mouth Of Hell We Tour shows are currently being confirmed.

Singer/guitarist Matthew Heafy has this to say: “United Kingdom! As we said at Download, the UK was the first place in the world to truly embrace Trivium and make us feel like we had a home away from home on stage. The first several UK headline tours we did back in 2005 and 2006 were destructive, lethal and life-changing experiences we shared together: long sets… long tours… no frills, just our friends, our music and a good metal time. It’s been a very long time since we’ve done a full blown, multi-date headlining UK tour… and man have we missed it. We mentioned at Download that it would be a while till we would return… and 2010 is just about that time. We’re coming back with a vengeance and we’re bringing some friends and we’re playing some of our favourite venues. We hope to see you there!”
