Cult movie icon Molly Ringwald and actor and comedy-mastermind Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, Spinal Tap) have been announced as the headline acts for the Queensland Cabaret Festival 2016 line-up for Brisbane Powerhouse.
Limited early bird tickets for both shows will be on-sale from 10am this Tuesday 8 March, giving patrons access to discounted tickets and priority seats until Monday 14 March 2016.
Molly Ringwald might be best known for cult classics like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, but Brisbane audiences will see another side to the star as she takes them on a trip that is part nostalgic and part classic cabaret.
This sassy performance is accompanied by Ringwald’s jazz trio and features interpretations of ‘I’ll Take Romance’ and ‘The Very Thought of You’, as well as a throwback to her eighties fame with ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’.
In This Infernal Racket, real-life couple Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, Spinal Tap) and acclaimed singer-songwriter Judith Owen tackle life and all its distractions head-on in a special cabaret performance.
Featuring influences from Nixon to Mr Burns and with a lot of music in between, the pair tackle fame, celebrity, politics, religion and relationships. There will be laughter, music, compassion and cruelty as Shearer and Owen attempt to make perfect sense of the world around us.
