Forever the Optimist to play The Zoo, Brisbane on 2nd February 2012

The Zoo will host four young, talented Brisbane-formed and based bands on February 2nd 2012 in a must see gig for aficionados of fresh original rock.

Forever the Optimist, Zelita, Jakarta Criers and Social Eyes are up and coming groups rapidly making names for themselves on the Brisbane music scene as alternative/hard rock, all original specialists.

Headliners, Forever the Optimist, have recently paired with Thousand Needles in Red across cities and have just released a video for their single ‘My Design’

Sam Hagaman in Rave magazine in August 2011 said the three man, one woman group’s “take on alt-rock follows in the footsteps of Grinspoon, Karnivool and Audioslave, except with a little more Red Bull to pep them up”. The energetic quartet are worth their weight in riffs. You will be singing and dancing like a converted Christian when you hear their sound.

Zelita, who have been in hibernation for the past few months, are ready to burst back onto the music scene. The band plays a style of rock which is hard to pin-point, but they also made it to last year’s Emergenza Battle of the Bands, along with Forever the Optimist. Not Street Press described the boys from Brisbane’s western suburbs as “dynamic” with “epic tracks featuring lengthy guitar riffs”. The group is currently recording its first EP.

Jakarta Criers, with a slightly softer rock sound, have also just recorded their first EP with former Oils producer Magoo, while Social Eyes have a new take on progressive rock with their heavy acoustic guitar work.
