On December 21st, while Western Sydney sweltered on a 44 degree Summer day, the local brand new events venue began it’s official Opening Day celebrations. West HQ (formerly Rooty Hill RSL) unveiled The Coliseum, a beautiful new concert and entertainment precinct, featuring a state of the art 2000 seat auditorium.

One of the great things about Bluesfest is that the musicians who travel a long way from around the globe to get here have a brilliant time and enjoy the opportunity to see acts they have never seen, and to meet and collaborate with artists that inspire them. Backstage they are treated to unique Byron/Bluesfest hospitality and have a chance to learn about Australia’s Indigenous peoples through magnificent artworks placed throughout the greenroom. A couple of hours north of Sydney, nestled in the lush green expanse of the Hunter Valley, sits Hope Estate Winery, the serene and picturesque location for the NSW leg of Culture Club‘s Encore Tour. Featuring a lineup that seems to have come straight from the posters on my teenage bedroom wall, the concert featured support from five of Australia’s most iconic bands from the 80’s.
