Owl City and Susan Boyle triumph for another week at the summit of the
ARIA Singles, Digital Track and Album Charts

Owl City continues to dominate the ARIA Singles Chart, claiming a third consecutive week on top with “Fireflies”. The hit single also achieves its fourth week straight at number one on the ARIA Digital Track Chart. Remaining in peak position on the ARIA Album Chart for the eighth week running is Susan Boyle’s monster debut release “I Dreamed A Dream”, which becomes the first album in over a year to hold at the top of chart for eight weeks straight. P!nk‘s mega release “Funhouse” was the last album to do this, riding the top of the chart for nine consecutive weeks in November/December 2008.

The top five positions on the ARIA Singles Chart remain unchanged this week, with Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” racking up its third consecutive week at No.2 while her new single “Blah Blah Blah” scores a No.7 debut. Michael Buble earns his first Australian top 10 single with the smooth tune “Haven’t Met You Yet”, which climbs three spots to #9, eclipsing the previous #15 peak that he achieved with “Sway” in 2004. The Black Eyed Peas‘ “Rock That Body” jumps six spots to #12, David Guetta (featuring Kid Cudi) races eleven spots up the chart to #24 with “Memories”, and “I’m In Miami Bitch” from LMFAO blasts from #40 to 28. Jay Sean’s “Do You Remember?” is up eight spots to #29 as chart debuts “Undisclosed Desires” from Muse and “One Time” from Justin Bieber come in at #34 and 35 respectively. “Morning After Dark” from mega-producer Timbaland (featuring Nelly Furtado and SoShy) makes a return to the top 40 after four weeks in the chart, sitting at #36.

The second chart album for New York indie-pop outfit Vampire Weekend explodes onto the ARIA Album Chart this week, claiming an impressive No.2 debut. The album, titled “Contra”, significantly betters the achievements of the band’s previous self-titled release, which hit the Australian charts in February 2008 and peaked at #37 in August of the same year. Pop dynamo Ke$ha enters the chart at #4 with her debut album “Animal” as Taylor Swift celebrates a huge fifty-two weeks in the top 40 with “Fearless”, which sits at #8. Released to coincide with what would have been Elvis Presley’s 75th birthday, a collection of his “50 Australian Top 10 Hits 1956-1977” hits the chart this week, debuting at #9 to become his first top 10 album since “The King” reached #4 in August 2007. “Conditions” from homegrown band The Temper Trap jumps six spots to #20, as top 40 re-entries “The Blueprint 3” from Jay-Z and “The Time Of Our Lives” from Miley Cyrus come in at #37 and 40 respectively.

In ARIA Digital Track Chart news, Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” and “Empire State Of Mind” from Jay-Z (featuring Alicia Keys) hold at #2 and 3 while Iyaz’s “Replay” climbs four spots to hit number four. Debuting at #6 is “Blah Blah Blah” from Ke$ha, with Michael Buble‘s “Haven’t Met You Yet” up three spots to #8. Also debuting this week is Muse‘s “Undisclosed Desires” at #30, Justin Bieber’s “One Time” at #34, and “You’ve Changed” from Sia at #38, along with “Your Love Is My Drug” from Ke$ha and “Vanilla Twilight” from Owl City, which take out #39 and 40 respectively.
