Album Review | Breathe Carolina – Hell Is What You Make It

Breathe Carolina’s third full length album, Hell Is What You Make It is great for when you want to dance, but can’t quite bring yourself to listen to full on pop or dance anthem tracks…and you still require that bit of ‘rock’ in your music.

Breathe Carolina is an assemblage of power duo Kyle Even and David Schmitt hailing from Denver, and their styles and choices definitely create a bipolar sound. Combining an electro pop sound with synthesizers and screamo/crunk-core, mixed with ‘traditional’ rock guitars and drums, Breathe Carolina certainly is interesting to listen to. Personally, I think it’s fantastic!

  The fourth annual iSelect Fashion+Aid charity event will return to the Palladium Ballroom at Crown Entertainment Complex on Saturday 10 September 2011. Titled Strike a Pose, the 80’s inspired night of glitz and glamour will support the Lighthouse Foundation and showcase an extravagant and theatrical show to mesmerise the 1200 guests.

Hosted by Fox FM breakfast star Jo Stanley, guests will be treated to an adrenalin pumping night including a fashion parade, dance performances and an exclusive song performance by Australia’s hottest act, Stan Walker.

The meteoric rise of Dead Letter Circus in the past 18 months is no secret. Having quickly moved from the small, intimate feel of the Espy to regularly selling out the substantially bigger HiFi Bar and touring the UK and America, its fair to say that DLC are doing all right. Back in Melbourne for yet another jaunt around Australia, this time for their “No Fracking Way” Tour, Brisbane alternative rock darlings Dead Letter Circus were at the top of their game on Wednesday night.

HELM @ The Hi-Fi, Melbourne with Bellusira, Ennis Tola, The Design – 19 August 2011 | Live Review

[Photo by: Annie Wilson – Amped Photography]		   Having just taken an extended break from the road to record their highly anticipated 3rd album, it had been a long time between drinks for Melbourne based fans of Queensland metal behemoth HELM. However, the band’s Rising Tides Tour marks a transitional period for the quintet, in both good and bad ways (nearing completion of their third album and loosing a couple of members). Despite this, on Friday night, Helm showed they remain a world-class heavy act and with the help of some great supports, they put on a great show.
