Trail of the Dead may have shed almost half their members since their last visit, but an evening at the Hi-Fi with this leaner line-up remains a punishingly loud experience.
Five back-to-back cuts from latest release Tao of the Dead give the feeling that the band is rushing to get the new material out of the way. Still Ebb Away and The Fairlight Pendant, in particular, are anything but second-rate. |

The surprise musical twist has been a recurring motif in Neil Finn’s long career. But not even his wife suspected this latest one was going to start ramping up after he got his pajamas on. Nor that she would share equal responsibility for its irresistibly strange and propulsive grooves. |
Pajama Club began as a private after-dinner racket to fill an empty nest. With their two sons, musicians in their own right, off and away into the big old world, Neil and Sharon found themselves home alone with time, a sensible supply of red wine, copious musical instruments and a 16-track tape recorder on their hands.

Suzi Quatro fans at this year’s Deniliquin Ute Muster and Play on the Plains Festival will be treated to a rare opportunity to get the Queen of Rock’s signature.
Headlining the Friday night concert at this year’s Festival on September 30, Festival organisers have received confirmation that Suzi will be arriving early to sign her new album for fans. “It’s a real treat to have Suzi performing on our stage, but it’s a real added bonus to our event to have her arriving early and spending a couple of hours signing her new album for her fans,” Festival General Manager John Harvie said. |

Album Review | Calling All Cars – ‘Dancing With a Dead Man’

Melbourne hard rockers Calling All Cars are undoubtedly one of the harder working bands doing the rounds today. In the past two years since the release of their debut the three-piece have toured relentlessly with the likes of AC/DC, Queens of the Stone Age and The Butterfly Effect as well as a heap of headline shows of their own. Somehow in that time, they’ve managed to record an absolute cracker of a sophomore album, improving their sound in every way possible.
