Seminal Canadian post-rock collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor will bring their heartrending live show to Australia for the first time this February. Already announced to perform at ATP’s ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’, the band will also headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
GY!BE was created in 1994 as a solo musical outlet for Efrim Menuck, with the name borrowed from a little known 1976 Japanese black and white documentary. Three years on, Menuck was invited to perform at a show in Montreal, and asked bassist Mauro Pezzente and guitarist Mike Moya to accompany him. The band quickly grew to a core group of nine members and in 1997 they released their debut album F#A#∞. They’ve since gone on to release 3 studio albums and an EP, each generally consisting of an entire piece which is then divided into sections ranging from 15 to 25 minutes. BANDS*BURLESQUE*DJs. Attention creatures of the night… The inaugural ‘Creepshow Halloween Festival’ hits Brisbane in November! See the venue transformed into a haunted mansion, playing host to seductive burlesque dancers and a horde of spine--tingling bands.
We had some fun conversations in the office as we tried to come up with families that we could create with this set of stickers. Dad as Darth Vader, Mom as Slave Leia? Ew, no. Dad as Chewbacca, Mom as Padmé Amidala? Let’s not think about that. Dad as Han Solo and Mom as Leia would work, but would they really produce a Yoda and a tiny Stormtrooper?
Traveller & Fortune are touring in support of their latest single “Little Plastic People”, including a slot at BIGSOUND Live 2012. Tom West took time out for Life Music Media.

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me… an Invincible Summer” – Albert Camus
After spending the Australian summer in the chill of the northern hemisphere, Sydney based multi-instrumentalist Matt James returned home with a vision to establish a musical collective entitled The Invincible Summer, inspired by French author Albert Camus’ quote which he saw scrawled on the side of his Darlinghurst hall upon his return to Australia.
Blue Murder Presents The rumours are true, Fear Factory are confirmed to tour Australia this September! Armed with their latest album The Industrialist, a new chapter in Fear Factory’s career of ideas and extremes, it’s the Fear Factory machine at its most confident and passionate, bringing every sonic weapon in its arsenal to the fore.
The shadow of the Los Angeles born band has loomed large, writing the book of industrial metal that has gone on to influence the likes of Rammstein and inform such stalwart noisemongers as Ministry. Fear Factory also merged the idea of melodic vocals erupting from death metal screaming long before it became modern metal’s de-riguer. Over the course of a many storied career that’s seen the success of five critically acclaimed albums plus a remix ep and album, Fear Factory has had a career of creative and commercial success, selling over three million records worldwide: they’ve also been plagued by bitter infighting and have emerged from it all in 2012 with a new alloy of aggression.
