An Evening With Jack Dee‏ – Australian Shows – April 2013

After a six year absence from Stand-Up, Jack Dee is back, agonizing over the slightest of annoyances and misdemeanors. Why is he touring again? “I want to spend less time with my family” says Jack.

Jack Dee is an actor, comedian and writer who has won world wide acclaim for his stand up comedy routines. Having forged a highly successful comedic reputation during the 1990s based on the sardonic, deadpan style of his stand up routine, Jack Dee shot to even greater fame in 2001 after he won the very first series of Celebrity Big Brother.

Jack’s comedy career began with an open mike spot at the Comedy Store in 1986. His talent was spotted early on by fellow comedians who encouraged him to continue to work on his act and start touring.

MARY COUGHLAN touring Australia – March 2013

Galway-born torch singer Mary Coughlan has established herself as one of her native land’s most enduring and remarkable vocal talents, and she is returning to tour Australia in March with her pianist Tom Rainey and bassist Brett Hirst.

Mary has casts her meditative eye over songs of joy, sadness, mischief and melancholy; and delivers each song each one with a voice that effortlessly straddles jazz, blues, chanson and pop in equal, sublime measure.

MARY COUGHLAN

“Ireland has never produced a singer quite like Mary Coughlan. She emerged in 1986 seemingly from nowhere and without any preliminaries, but already with a stagecraft and vocal sophistication of a veteran, singing new songs and blues songs with one of those voices that tingle the mind with an instant recognition of something very special.” ~ The Irish Times Continue reading MARY COUGHLAN touring Australia – March 2013

Abbe May Unleashes New Single ‘T.R.O.U.B.L.E’‏

Taking the easy road has never been a part of what Abbe May ‘does’.

After experimenting for a solid year with a mellotron and drum machine, ‘T.R.O.U.B.L.E’ was combined with a throbbing electro pulse, reverb-drenched vocals, and haunting background falsetto. The result is a lurching, Frankenstein-monster-esque beat layered with the slinky and sex-sodden drip feed of Abbe May’s voice; an example of the uncompromising doom pop that only Abbe May does so well.

Album Review: Björk – Bastards (Biophilia Remixes)

By Natalie Salvo
Love her or hate her, there’s no denying that Björk is an artist that never fails to be eccentric and interesting. Last year’s Biophilia album was a sprawling, mixed media affair where the music was released as an album alongside shows, educational projects and a special app for every single song. In 2012, Bastards draws together remixes of virtually all of these tracks.

Björk has acknowledged that these particular remixes took the listener somewhere else. The cuts were all chosen by the fine lady herself, because she says they contain much sturdier legs to dance on thanks to their rather heavy reliance on synths and beats. These particular songs have all been offered on the Internet as downloads at different times and this release collects them together in a handy but rather unnecessary package.
