Hailing from Australia, Brisbane’s Hungry Kids of Hungary have certainly left their indie-pop stamp all over the country in the last 12 months and now are packing their knapsacks and debuting their acclaimed live show on international soil – first stop USA, followed by the UK.
Handpicked by Trade Queensland to appear amongst the international heavyweights, HKoH will kick off their first ever jaunt with a Musexpo LA showcase at The Viper Room in West Hollywood this Sunday April 25. |
Subsequent shows in Philadelphia and New York City have been booked and are followed by appearances across the globe for the Great Escape in Brighton as well as shows in London and Bristol throughout May. Most notably the band will join the likes of Aussie heroes Eskimo Joe, Paul Dempsey, Bridezilla, Angus and Julia Stone and more at an Aussie BBQ also in Brighton. The band will return to the UK in June for Musexpo UK.
Hungry Kids of Hungary will be greeted in the States by a healthy dose of airplay for single ‘Scattered Diamonds’ on stations across the nation including KROQ and Nic Harcourt spins on KCRW. The song has also enjoyed synchronisation success of late with appearances in TV shows The Deep End and Ugly Betty with Grey’s Anatomy still to come on Thursday April 29. Previous song ‘Arrest This Heart’ has also appeared in ABC sitcom Cougar Town.
Back home Down Under, the band has enjoyed great radio success with not only ‘Scattered Diamonds’ but also with singles ‘Set It Right’, ‘Let You Down’ and ‘Old Money’ all hitting high rotation on national youth broadcaster triple j and even gaining excellent spot plays on national commercial radio station Nova. A relentless touring schedule both in the capacity of headliner and main support around the nation as well as festival spots at Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Sunset Sounds, Southbound, Sounds of Spring and Woodford Folk Festival has kept the band busy in the last 12 months and now, they are a sought after headlining act selling out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
With two EPs already under their belt, Hungry Kids of Hungary have just finished recording their debut album due for release in July.
A first taste of the album entitled ‘Wristwatch’ is now available to download here –
