The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) launches a free Sunday Talks program to coincide with Tim Burton: The Exhibition, beginning with an insight into a Burton favourite, The Nightmare Before Christmas, on Sunday 18 July.
The program brings together artists and composers whose work has a particular relationship to the work of Tim Burton with commentators who will lead discussion about Burton’s work. |

Brisbane-reared, Brooklyn-based noise merchants Violent Soho are back in Australia this month, playing long awaited homecoming dates to celebrate the release of their self titled new album.
Lead single ‘Jesus Stole My Girlfriend’ has won some solid support on Australian radio and has reached the Billboard Top 40 rock songs chart and the Canadian Top 20 airplay chart. Violent Soho’s already famed, explosive live shows have been further honed on back to back US & UK tours with Dinosaur Jr, Built to Spill, AFI and The Bronx. Midnight Juggernauts return with their next single ’Lifeblood Flow’ from their highly acclaimed second album, The Crystal Axis. In Early 2009 whilst walking Fremantle’s flamboyant streets, Ozjam creator Chris ‘Crispy’ Wilks heard an encapsulating voice singing Sade’s ‘No Ordinary Love’ – it was the dynamic vocals of Tania Walker. Having learnt her first guitar chords at 12 from then fellow busker John Butler, had no.1 hits in the Pacific Islands and recently returned from a stint in New York performing at the world renowned Blue Note Cafe she was ready take her world class voice in a new direction.
Working with Crispy, Tania set about auditioning musicians to form the exuberant act which is DEMI-MONDE, comprising of Dave Webb (drums) who has supported the English rock band Reef (place your hands) , Mat Adams (bass), and Billie Kiagoes (guitar) who has played alongside Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme). |

The Frontier Touring Company, in association with the University of Canberra’s entertainment division UC LIVE!, are thrilled to announce the lineup for this year’s hotly anticipated Stonefest festival scheduled for Saturday 30 October 2010 and held on the University’s grounds.
The addition of Frontier Touring as festival co-promoters is sure to add to the magnitude of the festival. This year sees Frontier celebrating its 30th year of operation and 500th tour. Frontier Touring are extremely pleased to be a part of the venerable Stonefest festival in 2010.

Metallica Announce a 5th & Final Melbourne Show
After multiple instant sell outs and more than 60,000 ticket sales for their first four Melbourne shows, Metallica have agreed to play a 5th and very definitely FINAL show in Melbourne, adding Rod Laver Arena on Thursday September 16 to the 17 sold out shows of their Australia/NZ tour.
The band will take the stage – playing in the round – for more than two hours featuring tracks from throughout their extensive career.
