Tour News : Hauschka – Australian Tour 2019

German composer, songwriter and musician Hauschka returns to Australia for two very special performances in June.

A pioneer in the field of ‘prepared’ piano music – which involves conjuring an extraordinary range of sounds by placing everyday objects on the strings inside the instrument – Hauschka has most recently enjoyed huge success working in the field of composing for film.

Hauschka’s big breakthrough in the field came with his collaboration with Dustin
O’Halloran in scoring the feature film “Lion” in 2016. Their score went on to be nominated for numerous major awards, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and BAFTA.

Hauschka signed with Sony music in 2018 and for his first album with his new label – A Different Forest – he does away with his customary instrument preparations to focus on pure unadorned piano. One of the central themes of the album is the experience of nature as the basis for Hauschka’s understanding of life and the composition of music.

For these two special Australian performances, Hauschka will perform pieces from his new album, selected compositions from his previous albums, and a selection of works from the feature films ‘Lion’, ‘Hotel Mumbai’ and the BBC TV show ‘Patrick Melrose’.

Hauschka takes listeners on a journey into an inner wilderness that feels equally familiar and thrilling.
