The Middle Names release ‘Full Friends’ the first taste from their forthcoming debut album “I Need Space”. Recorded with renowned Producer Magoo (Regurgitator, The Jungle Giants, Midnight Oil) at Applewood Lane studios during May, it is the album that almost didn’t happen.
Five days before leaving to record the band were undertaking their final rehearsal at vocalist Ben’s rental home/studio when a fire ripped through the house; only themselves and their guitars getting out. As the saying goes ‘bad things come in threes’, the band arrived in Brisbane heading an hour out to Applewood Lane studios when they struck a puncture and were stranded on the highway. As for the 3rd, well bad luck was passed onto Magoo with his house getting burgled.
‘I Need Space’ presents a new set of songs for the Hobart based 5-piece and with it comes shortening their name from the formerly Ben Wells and The Middle Names. Somewhat closing a chapter that saw them perform at Falls Festival Marion Bay twice (Triple J Unearthed 2011), Festival of the Sun, and supports for Ball Park Music, San Cisco, The Jungle Giants, Art vs Science, Snakadaktal, Husky, Stonefield, Darren Hanlon, and Passenger. They have toured the Australian east coast many times including co-tours with Kate Martin, Tigertown, and Kira Puru & the Bruise.
Furthermore to the new single, The Middle Names announce their signing to Centrifuge music publishing and upcoming 2013 tour dates.
