Hot on the heels of last week’s announcement that PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY will be joining WOLFMOTHER at THE JD SET in Melbourne on 29 July, we are pleased to announce that the band who Australian music fans have chosen to support these amazing headliners is NEW NAVY!
Described by Triple J’s Dom Alessio as “having a ton of potential, combining really well the sounds of Britain and the sounds of the US”, Sydney locals NEW NAVY draw influence from the great pop and indie acts like The Cure and Talking Heads, combined with contemporary artists such as VHS or Beta, Battles and Editors. The ambitious quartet have received attention and praise for their ethereal and intimate live performances – sharing the stage with Australian heavyweights Dappled Cities, Miami Horror AND Philadelphia Grand Jury (who they’ll once again be on the bill with for the first JD Set of 2010)!

PHILADELPHIA GRAND JURY were also recently confirmed to take the stage at THE JD SET. Currently based in London and making a short trip home to Australia to play a couple of highly anticipated shows exciting newcomers, The Philly Jays (as their fans affectionately refer to them) are a live powerhouse and critics have lauded them as “a band you must see before you die”. Literally explosive on stage, their only secret is to write great songs and play them like it’s their last show ever. Every. Single. Time.
And our headliners barely need an introduction. Grammy and ARIA Award winning WOLFMOTHER make the kind of cacophonous rock that’s practically the modern day equivalent to the wrath of Zeus – heavy, authoritative and commanding.
