Following Radio Birdman‘s immensely successful double headline tour with Died Pretty in June/July of 2017, the band will be playing a limited number of Australian East Coast shows over two weekends this September/October before heading off for a 22 date tour of Europe. The Gov will host Adelaide’s only show on Sunday September 30th.

Radio Birdman‘s 2015 European tour made enough successful noise for them to gain spots this coming June on several festivals, most notably Spain’s Azkena Rock Festival and Belgium’s Sjock Festival. The impact of their sell out one-off London show was such that they have been invited back to London with Manchester and Leeds added onto the itinerary with several other UK shows also being slated.

Last Saturday night in Newcastle one could be confused and think they had ventured into a time machine. Travelling back to the year of 1974 when founding Radio Birdman members Rob Younger, Deniz Tek, and Pip Hoyle with Jim Dickson were taking the stage for the first time in a sweaty pub in Sydney, armed with an array of attitude and a brand of unique music about three years ahead of its time. This type of music surely had no place in the Australian pub scene? The hell it doesn’t. This is every bit a part of music history as any other Aussie pub icon band in the last 40 years.

|| Radio Birdman are Australian old school punk rock, around since the times of The Saints and inevitably compared to them. Their punk elements blend with a healthy dash of the pub rock feel that often comes from Australian acts. Radio Birdman are the group you can chuck it on at a party and no-one will text you at four in the morning asking ‘who was that playing when I downed the tenth shot of tequila?’ because its one line chorus has been stuck in their head ever since. Instead, partygoers will subtly begin to sway and bop their head (way before it could be attributed to intoxication) or be heard humming one of the hooky riffs as they exit the bathroom.
