Sun City Release Stunning Music Video Set In Canadian Wilderness ‏

Currently touring the country, Perth electro pop outfit Sun City show no signs of slowing down. Recently releasing their sophomore EP ‘Set Alight’, they kicked off their correlating national tour last month and are set to unveil their beautiful video clip for single “High”.

Shot in the lush and beautiful Canadian rockies, there was no doubt the breathtaking mountains would be the backdrop for “High”. With frozen creek beds, layers of fresh snow and stark, leafless branches, the cast and crew braved -20 degree temperatures to shoot in the winter wonderland of (a relatively undocumented area) the Kananaskis region in Alberta.

“When the boys at Sun City first showed me the song “High” it was immediately clear that the style of the accompanying video clip needed to be very fluid and smooth… The elegant and smooth melody danced along with an energetic beat, the combination of which really instilled in me a sense hope and inspiration. However, I couldn’t help but feel a dark undertone to the song, which I was keen to explore… I wanted to capture the innocence of child characters as they lived in a dark, albeit ‘make believe’, adult world” says Director, Brett Hamilton.

Back home, and prior to their first national tour, Sun City returned from their first international tour of Africa, which included headlining to a 3000 strong crowd at SalmonFest in Zimbabwe. Tobias John and Daniel Mackey (the masterminds behind Sun City) bring audiences reminisces of m83 and Passion Pit, along with an original blend of classic 80’s analogue synth hooks with big baselines and dynamic vocals. They have appeared at some of the country’s most iconic festivals including Parklife, Stereosonic and Summadayze, as well as supporting the likes of The Aston Shuffle.
