Summer Rhythm Festival has landed itself a new time slot. We have moved the festival forward a few months to 9th to 11th of December 2011 this summer due to venue negotiations.
The Summer Rhythm Festival debuted in December 2009 with an outstanding success. In 2011 it was moved to February and went from a small one day event into one of Canberra’s more noteworthy festivals with 3 stages, camping, and markets. The Festival looks to be bigger and better this year and continues to be a not for profit event promoting Mental Health awareness. |
Supported by the local community and presented by Strange Hours, the Summer Rhythm vision is to help out the community in many different ways. The festival aims to broaden people’s knowledge of mental health problems and broaden people’s musical exposure with a 3 day event immersed in music.
Canberra has always had a stigma attached and it has been closed off to many great artists touring Australia so many people in Canberra have never been to a live gig. We aim to bridge the gap a little more between the people that follow the crowds to go to nightclubs and the people that go out and seek the amazing new artists. A cross over festival.
We are a not for profit event and will be making a donation to beyond blue at the conclusion of the event. Our aim is to help out the Australian music community as well as exposing more people to what Australia has to offer.
Summer Rhythm is over 3 days and will have 4 stages, over 70 Bands & DJ’s. The style of music for Summer Rhythm Festival has a focus on Anything with Rhythm – roots, reggae, funk, dub, blues, and various styles of electronic music.
The Festival is to once again be held on the grounds of Goolabri Function Centre and Golf Course, nine minutes north of Canberra off the Federal Highway in the Sutton district.
The event will be on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th December, with overnight camping space available.
