So Frenchy So Chic In The Park @ Werribee Park Mansion, Melbourne – 15th January 2012

SO FRENCHY SO CHIC IN THE PARK: A summer picnic basket packed with the best French food, wine and music from Nouvelle Vague, Asa, Fefe and Moriarty. C’est délicieux.

So Frenchy So Chic In The Park is a one day celebration on Sunday 15th January 2012 of new French music performed against the magical backdrop of Werribee Park Mansion. It’s not just a boutique music festival – it’s a day in the gardens with fine food and wine to accompany tunes floating through the summer air.
Here’s just a taste of what’s on offer…

Egg Unlimited will be preparing three specially created hampers around a French theme, such as the French Fare For Two Share Box with delicious smoked leg ham and brie baguettes, salad nicoise and tarts for dessert. Or for something a little more decadent, there’s the Provodore Box with rare roasted Angus beef brioche rolls, salads, a cheese plate, fruit and chocolate pastries. The Vegetarian Share Box is just as tasty, with caramelised onion and double brie tarts, salad nicoise and other little treats.

The hampers need to be pre-purchased by contacting: https://cartelldownload.com.au – head to Tours/concert/gigs section of the site

Of course it wouldn’t be a proper French picnic without a beautiful bottle of wine, and the reputable boutique importer Halle Aux Vins has curated some drops to perfectly suit the menu and the summer day. Sample some French Riviera tastes with the subtle 2010 Côtes de Provence rosé Note Bleue from Vignerons de St Tropez, or for something more intense there’s a 2010 Côteaux du Giennois sauvignon blanc from the Loire Valley. There will be five French wines on offer, as well as one of France’s most famous beers, Kronenbourg 1664, plus a full bar, water and soft drink.
And for something sweet, leave room for some mouth-watering macarons supplied by the award winning Cacao (who use only traditional French principles with premium Belgian couverture chocolate) plus crepes, chouchoux, croissants, pains aux chocolats and coffee.

The entire menu has been designed to be the next best thing to a picnic in the French countryside, with all the very best food and wine available.

As delicious as the catering will be however, the piece de resistance of the day will be the music. The line-up has has been put together by the So Frenchy team, those responsible for a string of best selling CD compilations and sold out Australian tours of French artists. The smoky-voiced modern pop siren Asa, the folk/cabaret troubadours Moriarty, the hip-hop icon Fefe and the exuberant masters of 80s reinvention, Nouvelle Vague are all crowd favourites and are set to get everyone up and dancing on the grass.

So Frenchy So Chic In The Park is the ultimate garden party with a soundtrack to match. So Frenchy is a boutique affair with around 3,000 to 4,000 expected to attend – so there will be no queues, no coupons, plenty of bathroom facilities and a relaxed ambience.

For one day Werribee Park Mansion will become Melbourne’s own little Versailles with rolling lawns, flowerbeds and shady trees. Francophiles, families and anyone with a taste for good music (and good French food and wine) will be packing their picnic rug and enjoying a summer’s afternoon of pure joie de vivre.
