The first taste of their forthcoming second album Listening Party (out September though Big Village / Creative Vibes), Sydney hip hop trio Loose Change are proud to present ‘Shoosh!’, a sharp, tongue-in-cheek, four minute jab at some people’s lack of ability to know when to be quiet.

Founding members of ascending inner West Sydney-based record label Big Village Records, for whom their debut album was the second official release in 2010, Loose Change is Ellesquire, Rapaport and producer P.Major.

In between Loose Change albums all three have kept exceptionally busy with various solo projects and collaborations. Ellesquire received national acclaim for his debut solo release Ready, lead single ‘On The Prowl’ in particular saw him place just outside the Hottest 100 (coming in an oh-so-close #103) and paved the way towards a big run of recent shows that included all Groovin The Moo dates as well as touring nationally with Seth Sentry on his sold out Dear Science Tour.

Label manager of Big Village Records, Rapaport has steered the label through ten official releases since its inception in 2010. As well as releasing his own debut solo album he also keeps busy as the creator and director of hip hop – live art game show Sketch The Rhyme which, all the way from its breakout season at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2009, most recently performed a debut season at The Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2013, picking up a theatre award along the way. Producer P Major moonlights as a trained jazz saxophonist and is involved in a diverse range of musical projects spanning African and experimental music right through to Dereb The Ambasaddor.

With a nod to 90s pioneers like Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde and Slum Village, Loose Change formed to focus on creating a laidback and soulful approach to hip hop. Featuring guest vocals of Meklit, ‘Shoosh!’ is the perfect example of this laidback, pocket groove approach.

On the live front the band have supported everyone from Pharcyde and Gift of Gab to Ultramagnetic MCs, but with album launch tour dates to be confirmed for later in the year, in the immediacy catch them launching ‘Shoosh!’:
