ILLY is heading out on the road for a huge national tour through August, September and October in the lead up to this third studio album, Bring It Back.
An overwhelming response to the tour announcement has seen 6 new shows added across Far North Queensland and Tasmania. And with Melbourne’s Corner Hotel already reaching capacity, a second Melbourne date has been announced for Wednesday 5 September. Tickets for all new shows are on sale now! The tour will be the first chance to hear tracks from Bring It Back, live and in the flesh.
Bring It Back – set for release in late September – has already spawned a snowballing hit in Heard It All. ILLY has teamed up with friend Pez on the album’s second teaser, Where Ya Been.
With the production expertise of ARIA award-winning M-Phazes, Where Ya Been is not amiss of quality. A head- nodder from the get-go; trademark snapping boom bap and laid back synth chords sets the scene. ILLY and Pez trade flows seamlessly, sympathizing on a subject they’re both all too familiar with. Where Ya Been is available now to purchase on iTunes.
Bring It Back is a positive departure from 2010’s The Chase and takes ILLY back to his fundamental hip-hop roots. The album features creative collaborations with his Aussie hip-hop peers including M-Phazes, Pez, Trials (Funkoars), Mantra and Reason.
In support on the tour is Chasm Soundsystem and Skryptcha – both from Sydney. Chasm is one of the leading hip-hop producers in Australia who has worked with Aussie heavyweights such as The Herd, Resin Dogs, Dialectrix, Thundamentals and Urthboy. Chasm’s new album This Is How We Never Die is out now through Obese. Skryptcha has a knack for making the philosophical non-confrontational. His second release Mindful is not unlike its creator; perceptive, sharp and ahead of its time. Mindful is the follow-up to the LP NUMB3RS and break out EP Left to Write. It’s release 27 July through Obese.
