Gregg Allman with Gov’t Mule and Devon Allman announce Sydney + Melbourne shows – April 2014

For those into their Southern Blues and Rock, Gregg Allman, founding member and leader of the legendary Allman Brothers Band and a solo musician in his own right will be appearing alongside his special guests Gov’t Mule and Devon Allman. The Allman Brothers Band NEVER toured Australia so this will be the first time on our shores for Gregg Allman. Fronted by visionary singer-guitarist Warren Haynes, member of The Allman Brothers since 1989, Gov’t Mule returns to Australia for the first time in 14 years. We last saw Warren Haynes three years ago when he came with his band for a series of blistering sideshows. Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman, who some of you may have seen earlier this year as the lead guitarist of Blues/Jam band Royal Southern Brotherhood and who has also appeared in The Allman Brothers Band over the years, will be fronting his own band this time around. With three members of The Allman Brothers Band in the wings, this incendiary line-up will be tearing up the stage in Sydney and Melbourne and giving Allman Brothers fans a dose of the famed Allman Brothers Southern Rock/ Jam sound.

GREGG ALLMAN

We welcome Gregg Allman, founding member of the one and only Allman Brothers Band and a solo musician in his own right, to Australia for the very first time. Gregg Allman is a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer known for his gifted natural interpretation of the Blues and his soulful and distinctive voice.

Gregg Allman founded the Allman Brothers Band in 1969 with his brother Duane, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jai Johanny Johanson. The band’s first three albums – ‘The Allman Brothers Band’, ‘Idlewild South’ and ‘At Fillmore East’ were huge hits that made Southern Rock their unique fusion of Country, Blues and Rock, a national sensation.

In his solo career, Gregg Allman has recorded seven albums including ‘Low Country Blues’ (2011) his first recording in more than 13 years. Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album finds Allman putting his own stamp on songs by some of the Blues giants whose work has long informed his own, from Muddy Waters and BB King to Buddy Guy and Magic Sam.

GOV’T MULE
Fronted by visionary singer-guitarist Warren Haynes, Gov’t Mule returns to Australia for the first time in 14 years – bringing with them their first album in four years – a breath-taking, exploratory double-disc, featuring guest artists; Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glenn Hughes, Jim James, Myles Kennedy, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Vintage Trouble’s Ty Taylor and Steve Winwood!! Parallel to his nearly two decades in Gov’t Mule, Warren Haynes has been the six-string mainstay and a vocalist for the Allman Brothers Band and The Dead, and performed or recorded with a diverse array of other artists.

DEVON ALLMAN

He brought the soul of the south to Australia earlier this year as part of the Blues-Rock supergroup Royal Southern Brotherhood and now Devon Allman, who has appeared occasionally as a guest musician for both his father Greg Allman’s Band and The Allman Brothers Band is coming back. This time Devon will be fronting his own band and will be bringing his first true ‘solo’ album, Turquoise in tow.
