GOLD FIELDS National Tour – October/November 2011

They claim the title of the most played Unearthed track of the year for their debut song “Treehouse”; they’ve smashed audiences at some of the nations’ biggest music events, including Falls Festival, Field Day, and most recently Parklife; they embarked on extensive tours with The Holidays, Miami Horror and Pnau as well as headlining their first national tour in February; and have signed with Astralwerks in the USA (the last Australian band to do

this was Empire of the sun). All of this, and Gold Fields only starting to play live for the first time in September last year. Impressed? You should be.
With a debut, self-titled Self produced EP mixed by Scott Horscroft under their belts and fresh off the back of their Parklife dates, Gold Fields are taking to the road in October and November to spread their frantic dance-pop ‘n’ anthemic jams in venues across Australia.

It’s been a hectic 12 months since the quintet seemingly burst out of nowhere at the tail-end of 2010. Gold Fields hit the ground running when their debut song “Treehouse” was plucked off triple j Unearthed and instantly added to high rotation. Their accompanying live shows quickly gained them a word-of-mouth reputation for being a high-energy combo of pounding drums, rhythmic basslines and herky-jerky dance moves.

Within only a couple of months of forming, the band raced off to the UK to do showcase gigs with The Naked & Famous and others, as well as securing a release of “Treehouse” on tastemaker London label Young & Lost Club.

Gold Fields arrived back home in time to be hand-picked by triple j to play the Falls Festival in Lorne, and see in the New Year with a slot at Field Day in Sydney. Since then they’ve shared stages with international artists like Crystal Castles and Datarock, and embarked on extensive tours with home-grown heroes The Holidays, Miami Horror and Pnau.

Their debut, self-titled EP is released through EMI on September 16. It features a fresh remix of “Treehouse” from Melbourne uber-producer Gloves, as well as recent radio staples “The Woods” and “Moves”.

Joining Gold Fields as very special guests on all dates will be Brisbane garage-pop marvels millions. Like their upcoming tourmates, millions have also enjoyed a fast ascent. Barely six months old but brimming with enthusiasm, millions have already shared stages with the like of The Grates, Bleeding Knees Club and Little Scout.

millions were chosen by triple j Unearthed to open the main stage of 2011’s Splendour In The Grass festival at Woodford. Their first song “Those Girls” has already received healthy attention from triple j and public radio, and is the first taste of millons’ debut EP due late 2011.

Don’t miss this thrilling team-up, as two of Australia’s most promising new acts bring the party to a venue near you.
