Joining Natalie Pa’apa’a are the powerful vocals of Lea and Petra Rumwaropen; daughters of the late Agosto Rumwaropen, singer/songwriter behind one of West Papua’s most recognised and outspoken acts The Black Brothers.

A seminal West Papuan band The Black Brothers wrote popular songs about freedom, justice and oppression. However in the late 1970s at the height of their popularity the band and their families had to flee West Papua due to safety concerns. They eventually settled in Australia where they were granted asylum.

When Natalie saw the Rumwaropen sisters singing she knew that they would one day work together both as musicians and freedom fighters.

“It remains our passion to continue the legacy our late father left for us, to keep spreading the West Papua message through music, especially now with BKB!!” says Petra Rumwaropen.

Blue King Brown have created history at music festivals throughout Australia using the power of music to increase awareness of the current situation in West Papua.

Ahead of National dates in June and Major International Festival appearances to be announced for July / August, BKB will drop the first single off their highly anticipated album.

Natalie will also be joining upcoming Julian Marley shows in May, performing a special acoustic set, joined by Lea and Petra, performing a selection of old material as well as new, unheard tracks.
