Event News: Family fun at Queensland’s largest event!

There will be no shortage of family friendly activities at this year’s Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) with the return of old favourites and the introduction of some brand new shows.

A trip to the Ekka remains Queensland’s number one great family value event with hundreds of free attractions and activities to experience once you’re inside the gates. More than 70 per cent of the showgrounds are dedicated to free activities. This includes 10,000 animals, performances by hit television series dirtgirl, hilarious comedy skits by The Crackup Sisters, singalongs with Farmer Rob and Sunny the Sunflower and the show stopping two hour night-time entertainment program.

Bringing along a great live show for the whole family to enjoy, the gumboot-wearing dirtgirl will explore the natural world while singing along to music from the favourite rating television series. dirtgirl will also teach kids everything there is to know about being eco-friendly in her Growing Green Activity Centre.

Loveable larrikins, The Crackup Sisters, are returning to the Ekka this year with an array of comedy skits, acrobatic pranks and laughable antics. With dresses made from couches and curtains, doors that split in half and a windmill made from a bike wheel that pumps water, The Crackup Sisters’ funky dance routines, pumping music and long list of Aussie bush jokes are not to be missed.

With so much to see and do at the Ekka, parents can drop by the Ekka Chill Out Zones proudly sponsored by Grinders Coffee to catch their breath between activities. While parents enjoy a coffee, the kids can join Farmer Rob and Sunny the Sunflower as they teach Kelly all about growing produce on the farm.

In just a few short weeks, the gates to Queensland’s largest and most loved annual event will open to more than 400,000 people who will come together to see the best the state has to offer. Celebrating the 135th show this year, the Ekka is full of traditions, a unique atmosphere and childhood memories which have been passed down through generations of families.

This true Queensland experience is one not to be missed.
