Ekka 2013 – Day 3 – Ekka’s first weekend

Day 3: Ekka’s first weekend

Day two of the show was filled with sunshine and pomp and ceremony during the day and a 360 degree blaze of colour, surround sound, fireworks, speed bike action and pop singers at night. In a day of dignitaries the Governor of Queensland officially opened the Royal International Convention Centre and the Governor-General officially opened the Ekka.

Day three sees the arrival of the horses in the Energex Community Arena, a psychic reading the Ekka audience, wearable art onstage and the first kittens being graded on temperament.

DOORSTOP: 11:30am with RNA Chief Executive Brendan Christou at Heritage Hill overlooking the Energex Community Arena.

Longhair kittens (map reference: X14)
With more than 25 breeds of cats on show, judging in the feline competition begins today with the longhaired kittens. Drop by and see the Siberian, Maine Coon, Persian Exotic and the Norwegian Forest Cat kittens as young as 11 weeks old.

Garden to Garment, Horti-Couture Parade (map reference: H15)
It’s fashion with a twig! For the first time at the Ekka mixed media artists, architects, floriists and designers have created garments from plants, flowers, twigs, textiles and vegetation to parade at 12:30pm today on the Brunnings Garden Platform, ground floor of the Royal International Convention Centre.

Psychic Julianna (map reference: R12)
New to the Ekka, Julianna Suranyi is a leading Australian psychic and intuitive profiler who merges her ability to tell people what will happen in their lives via psychic readings. In contrast to other psychics, Julianna asks her guests what they specifically want to know and then provides the answer, rather than getting information from Spirit and trying to find who in the audience it belongs to. Julianna’s shows today are on at 11:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm and 2:30pm at the John Reid Pavilion Health and Lifestyle Stage
