Ivy League have announced that CLOUD CONTROL’s highly anticipated second album, DREAM CAVE, is next week’s TRIPLE J FEATURE ALBUM and FBi’s ALBUM OF THE WEEK! Tune in to hear tracks off the album, out FRIDAY 9 AUGUST.
In the meantime, CLOUD CONTROL have released their second single ‘SCAR’, another choice cut off DREAM CAVE. With swirling keys and stripped back opening, ‘SCAR’ (https://soundcloud.com/cloud-control/scar-2) builds into a joyous, anthemic chorus that will no doubt be chanted at every show to follow its release and has now landed in the top 10 most popular tracks on Hype Machine.
The last track recorded for the album, ‘SCAR’ follows CLOUD CONTROL’s first DREAM CAVE release, ‘Dojo Rising’ which scored the #1 most played position at triple j, and in the top 20 for over a month. Both give a glimpse into the band cherishing their elegant psychedelic pop whilst cutting loose from their roots and embracing a spirit of experimentation best exemplified by Check Your Head-era Beastie Boys or a Yo La Tengo record.
The video for ‘SCAR’ will be released in the coming weeks. Shot on location in Iceland and without saying too much, it follows front man Alister Wright through the desolate landscapes so unique to that beautiful part of the world.
In town this past weekend for Splendour In The Grass, CLOUD CONTROL now head off on their international DREAM CAVE TOUR! An extensive touring schedule, the guys start off in the US, head back to Australia in Aug/Sep and finish up in UK/EU before taking on main support duties for Local Natives on their UK/EU leg of touring.
After receiving rave reviews for their recent SOLD OUT performance at Sydney’s Vivid Festival, CLOUD CONTROL’s Australian DREAM CAVE TOUR will see the band perform tracks from their latest offering as well as songs off their beloved debut Bliss Release. Supported nationally by Sydney’s Palms, now Gang Of Youths join the party as well as Summerflake (Adelaide only), Gunns (Perth only), Braves (Perth only), Morning Horse (Bendigo only) and Anthony Rochester (Hobart only), as well as an extra date at the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay Sunday 25th August. It’s the perfect chance to catch the band before they head back overseas for the rest of the year. Don’t miss out!
