CD Review: Tara Simmons – ‘It’s Not Like We’re Trying To Move Mountains’

Review by Life Music Media
Brisbane singer-songwriter Tara Simmons is known for her powerful vocals, catchy hooks and honest lyrical content. The release of Tara’s second full-length album It’s Not Like We’re Trying to Move Mountains reaffirms this position.

Having bunkered down in the studio with producer Yanto Browning (Kate Miller-Heidke, the medics, The Jungle Giants, Art of Sleeping), Tara has taken her distinctive synth-riffs, pushed her boundaries, delivering a killer album.

Stand-out tracks from the album include “Weekend Of Hearts”, “Where Do You Go”, “Honey” and “Be Gone”

The first single “Be Gone” belts out a synth-driven, driving energy as does “Where Do You Go”, both of which will have you singing and dancing along before you know it.

There is no doubt this album is a solid step forward for Tara, offering a new edgier dimension but also maintaining the crisp, clean distinctive sound that defines Tara’s music.
