Brisbane International – Day Six Update

Day six at the Brisbane International saw Andy Murray defeat Marcos Baghdatis in the first of two men’s quarterfinal matches on Pat Rafter Arena.

Australia’s No.1 men’s player, Bernard Tomic, also progressed with a win over Denis Istomin and will now meet the Scotsman in the semifinals tomorrow.

On court tonight Kim Clijsters was forced to retire with a left hip injury opening the door for Daniela Hantuchova to play in her first Brisbane International final. She will meet Kaia Kanepi who defeated No.3 seed Francesca Schiavone in straight sets.

The tournament reached another record crowd on Friday with 10,598 attending the day and night sessions. To date 75,395 patrons have entered the Queensland Tennis Centre gates.

In semifinal action tomorrow No.2 seed Gilles Simon will meet No.3 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov followed by Murray versus Tomic.

Tomorrow night the Brisbane International 2012 women’s champion will be crowned and the women’s doubles champions.
