The Brisbane chapter of the Sepulnation (if that’s what one calls Sepultura fans collectively) is out in force tonight to catch their heroes at the Hi-Fi in West End.
Best of all for openers In Death, many have shown up early — the venue’s lower level feels cosily fullish even as the local five-piece punch out half a dozen or so of their best at a volume so piercing it almost hurts. They come off a little statuesque, but the impressively gravel-like death growl of frontman KrugTown and the chunky elegance of the band’s riffing certainly hit the spot.

With more music based reality television shows taking the primetime slot, and contestants being handed record deals like they’re going out of fashion, we’ve seen the indie bands being placed on the back burner – some going bust, some barely hanging on. So one question remains: Whats the key to an indie band staying afloat in a world dominated by generic, autotuned, reality show produced popstars?
Mercury Sky are about to drop their most crowning achievement to date – a self-titled EP that shows off the epic scope of their songwriting skills. The Mercury Sky EP was recorded by Dave Petrovic (Cog, Tonight Alive) and Shane Edwards (Northlane, House Vs Hurricane) and mastered by Don Bartley (Karnivool, Silverchair, David Bowie). 
Brisbane’s busiest alternative rock act, Guards of May, have been punching out their debut album in the Loose Stones studio on the Gold Coast. Now they are giving people the first look and listen of the new material with a single entitled ANNOTATA and are touring Australia from October-December with a whole heap of their pals, alongside Jericco, Circles, Caligula’s Horse, Sydonia, Young Lions and more.

Joe Louis Walker has been a blues force since he was a 16-year-old kid playing guitar and backing the best of the best on the stages of his hometown, San Francisco. 
The second album from progressive rock “supergroup / side-project” Flying Colors is released in Australia on October 3rd 2014 and perpetuates the initial basis for the band, formed in 2012, of seeking to combine virtuoso progressive rock musicians with a melodic pop singer / songwriter, and see what happens.
