Influenced by more contemporary beats, and elements of electronica, Rita enlisted the help of local producer RHyno aka Ryan Ritchie (True Live, Kimbra, Paris Wells) to help diversify her sound and production – and that’s exactly what he did. The EP features legendary violinist Tim Fain (Black Swan & Phillip Glass), emcee duties from RHyno and of course the most important ingredient – Rita’s honest heartfelt lyrics, sung with passion and delivered by a vocal that commands your attention.

Live Review | Carcass + Tortured @ Metro Theatre, Sydney – June 14, 2014

2014_Carcass_20Since their formation in the mid 1980s, UK’s Carcass has been at the forefront of the death metal movement. Even during the years of their break up in the mid-’90s through to their reformation in 2007, no other bands in the genre came close to matching the forward thinking, cutting edge metal they created on classic albums like Heartwork and Swansong.

So, it was no surprise that Sydney’s Metro Theatre should be near capacity for the band’s first tour here in over five years. Even Canberra’s Tortured played a punishing barrage of brutal death riffs to a significant crowd – although many were waiting patiently in the line up for the merch stand, with the line stretching out past the bar!

Sydney/London three-piece SEEKAE are excited to announce details of their third album and attendant tour. The Worry will be released via Future Classic on 12 September 2014.

Over the past six years, the Australian-English outfit have won a hugely loyal following and a swag of awards for their signature blend of electronic pop, IDM, post-dubstep, post-rock, house and ambient. Their stunning debut The Sounds of Trees Falling On People was anointed one of the albums of the decade by FBi Radio; assured follow-up +DOME achieved Mojo Magazine’s Album of the Month in the UK and saw SEEKAE nominated for four Australian Independent Music Awards. The band then took +DOME on the road, touring Europe, Japan and North America, culminating in a sold-out Sydney Opera House show with an 8 piece-orchestra.

It’s a fittingly chilly evening in Sydney for Finnish metallers Children of Bodom. The pale-skinned shred-tastic troupe from the North country probably blew right into town on the cold wind that’s brought with it a motley crew of fans from all over like some kind of Pied Piper.
