Sahara Beck will be hitting the road this month for her first ever run of headline shows to celebrate the release of ‘PANACEA’ which is available now to stream and download via Create/Control. The ‘PANACEA’ tour kicks off next Thursday the 12th of May at The Gasometer Hotel in Melbourne and takes in ten dates across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland including The Big Pineapple Festival.
Enlisting up-and-coming local acts to support in each state, Sahara Beck and her 8-piece band will be joined by, Melbourne’s Gabriella Cohen, the front woman of rock ‘n’ roll band, The Furrs for Victoria and Brisbane shows; Indie/folk songsmith out of Port Lincoln, SA, Luke Morris will feature in Sydney, Wollongong and Cronulla. Singer-songwriter Wilder Lee will join the bill in Sydney; Morgana Osaki, Irish/Japanese singer-songwriter living in Australia will warm up the stage at Lizzote’s in Lambton; In Brisbane for Beck’s hometown show, fellow Brisbane locals Slip on Stereo, the funky and fresh 4-piece will open up proceedings.
At just 19 Sahara recently landed her third QMusic Award, taking out Folk Singer/Songwriter category for her song ‘Mother Mother’ which was also nominated for Song Of The Year. Sahara has also been announced to be lead support for six upcoming The Cat Empire shows in North Queensland and Adelaide.
Of her recent Bluesfest 2016 performances where Sahara performed not one but two incredible sets at (her second appearance at the festival in recent years) of which The Music declared “She undoubtedly won over a swathe of new fans with her catchy, tight and fun set at the Juke Joint stage. Evoking Nancy Sinatra at times, she fronts her eight-piece band with confidence and boasts a heck of a pair of vocal cords. One to watch.” As well as Scenestr, who stated, “Within two minutes of hearing Sahara Beck sing, I had chills. She performed with ease and grace and projected her strong, smooth voice that filled the tent… her voice and well-written songs were all she needed to wow the audience.”
‘PANACEA’, Sahara’s second LP which was released on April 22, is already garnering rave reviews, with its ambitious arrangements and wildly diverse influences – from jazz and soul to glitchy beats – gelling together into something that feels completely new was built around a week long session at the legendary 301 Byron Bay studios – just days before it closed for good – Working with long time collaborator and engineer Jeff Lovejoy Lovejoy (Powderfinger, Tex Perkins, Evil Eddie), the record may be full of experimentation, but it never strays from the simple formula of wonderful songs performed with genuine passion.
