Queenscliff Music Festival 2011 Announces Ripper Line Up

  The first round of artists for this year’s Queenscliff Music Festival has been revealed as well as a number of exciting, new announcements at a launch event held at Federation Squares Transit Lounge. Media, industry, festival and musician types rubbed shoulders whilst enjoying an intimate performance by those ‘just back from Glastonbury’ rockers Stonefield, as well as being treated to a unique merging of Dub Reggae band The Red Eyes with the Bamboos very own Kylie Auldist performing a stripped back, cool groove version of “Can You Hear it”. Launch attendees were then treated to an acoustic sneak peak of this year’s Headline act with the Triffids “Evil Graham Lee” and Oh Mercy vocalist Alex Gow performing a few Triffids fave’s.

Thousand Reasons Tour @ Hifi Bar, Melbourne

  On this particular chilly Saturday night at a sold out Hi-Fi Bar in Melbourne, punters were always going to be in for a treat. With members from Cog, Karnivool and The Butterfly Effect in the room it was a proverbial smorgasbord for fans of Australia’s huge alternative rock scene. The sheer idea of the line up left this reviewer and clearly many others at the gig salivation at the prospect of what was to come.

Take Five With… Simone Romaniuk

One of David Williamson’s most celebrated plays, The Removalists, is set to make a return to the Brisbane stage as one of the QTC’s education performances. An examination of police corruption, domestic violence and sexism in 1970s Australia, this new production begs the question, “How far have we really come?”

Working to recreate the look and feel of those times is production designer Simone Romaniuk, an Affiliate Artist with the QTC this year. A graduate of both NIDA and the Queensland College of Art, and with credits that span film, television and especially theatre, including the STC, Pacific Opera and Sydney Dance Company among others, Romaniuk took a break from the slightly abstract set and retro furnishings of The Removalists to share some insight with Life Music Media.

Frenchman Simon Pagenaud and Brazilian Augusto Farfus will drive the Fujitsu Racing Holden at the Armor All Gold Coast 600

  A relationship forged almost 30 years ago has led to the latest international signing for this year’s Armor All Gold Coast 600, October 21-23 2011.

Fujitsu Racing/GRM owner, Garry Rogers, raced a BMW with Bob Jane in Australia in the mid 1980s and during the relationship the pair visited Schnitzer BMW in Germany where they attended a few endurance events, including the Spa 24-hour with team Principal, Charlie Lamm.
