SYDONIA to play “Given to Destroyers” in its entirety @ Revolver Upstairs, Melbourne – 19 November 2011

Sydonia will take a break from recording their eagerly anticipated 2nd Album to hit Revolver on the 19th November 2011. This will be a special night as they will be playing their much heralded 1st album “Given to Destroyers” from start to finish for the first time in over four years!

Complete with epic drum and percussion sections, brooding melodies, sheer toughness and with the obligatory segues and the odd bit of hairy banjo, “Given to Destroyers” is an album that underscored the local scene and put Sydonia on the road with a number of established bands both here and in the USA.

Join Sydonia for a celebration of what lies behind as they forge ahead at Revolver Upstairs on the Saturday the 19th of November, 2011. – Buy Tickets Here

Sydonia have a plethora of fine support bands so be early to catch opening act Suzie Stapleton solo acoustic serenade, followed by the hardened brutal rock assault all the way from WA that is BRUTUS (buy their merch, the distance from Perth to Melbourne is the equivalent of London to Moscow. Perth is the most remote city in the world) and not to forget local alternative treat for the ears ENNIS TOLA.

Check out all of their respective Facebooks etc for a sneak preview, but as always, music is better in first person, so be there in it…right in it.

Stray From The Path – Rising Sun | Album Review

Review by Billy Geary

Rising Sun - Stray from the PathRising Sun – Stray from the Path
New York hardcore quartet Stray From The Path have been around for quite a while now, with their past albums only ever hinting at the bands potential. Rising Sun however, changes all of that, delivering 30 minutes of excellent hardcore done right. Despite being their sixth album, Rising Sun shows that while the band’s sound hasn’t changed much over the past few years, Stray From The Path remain relevant due to the sheer passion and energy they bring to the music. Rising Sun’s strength lies in that while it sticks to a relatively stringent formula, it is more often than not a winning one, demanding attention for the entirety of the record.

There are two great racing events been staged in Australia this weekend, the first at Bathurst, where V8 Supercars will be tearing around the famous mountain track, and the second at Caulfield Racecourse, the setting for the Schillaci Stakes.

What makes this year’s $2001,000 Group 2 Schillaci Stakes over 1000m so mouth watering is the return of champion mare Black Caviar and her quest to match Phar Lap’s record streak of 14 consecutive race wins.
