Janelle Monáe & The ArchAndroid Orchestra @ Sydney Opera House | 26-27 May 2012

The dizzying ambition of Janelle Monáe’s The ArchAndroid (Suites II & III) gave the multi-talented 26- year-old the top slot in the Guardian’s ‘albums of 2010’ list. The Exploited Australia – New Zealand tour cancelled / To be rescheduled.

Unfortunately The Exploited tour in Aust-NZ is cancelled due to a very serious family situation of the bass player. Rob has travelled today back to Ireland to stay with his family for the next few weeks and therefore The Exploited is not able to make tour. The band is feeling really sorry, not only for Robs situation, but also this tour cancellation and the disappointment for the fans.

“I’m really sorry to have to say this but I’m afraid we’ll have to cancel. Apart from feeling sorry for Rob, we’re all totally gutted as we were really looking forward to this, but it is out of our control. I don’t really know what else to say except for I’m sorry to have to be saying this in every aspect. We’d just like to apologise to the promoter and everyone involved in these gigs and especially all of the people who were coming to see us. There’s no one more disappointed than us!!! So hopefully in the future we can get a chance to come back and play to the people of Australia and New Zealand. ”

Interview with Gary Stringer – REEF

Interview by Robert Pugsley

British rockers Reef are heading back to Australia in June, so put your hands up and your eyes down as Life Music Media interviews Gary Stringer lead singer of Reef.

You may remember Reef for their 1997 hit “Place Your Hands ” from their Glow album or you may remember them from their Hey Hey It’s Saturday performance when they hilariously reacted to the poor treatment of some young Red Faces contestant by trashing the stage whilst screaming “Your Old”. Reef then threw down their instruments and literally did a runner. An angry Daryl Somers stared down the camera and boldly claim that Reef “will never work in this town again!” But alas poor Daryl it looks like Reef and their Aussie fans that are having the last laugh.

Dominic Maker – Mount Kimbie: We’re not 100% sure yet. We’ve been locked away for a few months but hopefully we’ll be ‘bringing the party’ by the time we get down there.

LifeMusicMedia: Have you got any pre-show routines/superstitions?

Mount Kimbie: Used to like arriving about 5 minutes before we played but now we just make jokes about the local culture and try and stay at the optimum level of drunk for performing. Which is not very.
