Filmed in an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Oh Mercy unveil the video of their new single ‘Drums’, from their forthcoming ‘Deep Heat’ album set for release August 24.

Alexander Gow on ‘Drums’, “This is a tale of cautionary romance. Musically it came out of a heavy (and continuing) Jorge Ben binge. It started off as a take on the story of ‘Hero & Leander’. Lovers living on either side of a strait called ‘Hellespont’. Leander was a champion swimmer. I finished it and then inverted some on the sentiment. For fun.”

Live Review: The Tea Party @ The Hi-Fi, Melbourne with Georgia Fair – 14th July 2012

Review by Billy Geary
The Tea PartyOn the 13th of April last year, The Tea Party announced that they had reformed after a six-year break. A tour of their native country in Canada quickly followed and, as such, it was only a matter of time before the Reunion Tour made it to Australia. Saturday night at The Hi-Fi was the second show of the tour, the first being at Melbourne’s Palais the night before.

Lone support band Georgia Fair peddled their inoffensive indie/folk rock to a largely disinterested crowd. The pair soldiered on through their lively half hour set, eventually winning over a few early comers, despite the stark contrast in sound with the headliners. Newer track ‘Blind’ in particular managed to turn more than a few heads, however Saturday night was all about The Tea Party.

Cream was a 1960s three-piece British band consisting of bassist/lead vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker, having formed in London, England. They were known as one of the first great power trios and supergroups of rock. Their sound was characterised by a hybrid of blues, hard rock and psychedelic rock. Cream combined Clapton’s blues guitar playing with the powerful and airy voice and intense bass lines of Jack Bruce and the manic drumming of Ginger Baker. They have sold over 35 million albums worldwide. Wheels of Fire was the world’s first platinum-selling double album.
Baker, Bruce, and Clapton named their band “Cream” because they thought themselves as the “cream of the crop” of their respective instruments.
