DAN SULTAN announces “Back To Basics” solo tour + supporting Bruce Springsteen on two shows

After strong demand from his league of dedicated fans, and following two sold-out shows in his hometown of Melbourne earlier this year, Dan Sultan is happy to announce a national tour for his Back To Basics solo show. It will give his fans the opportunity to hear his inspired collection of new material in its rawest form, played live in a stripped-back and intimate environment.

As well as his national headline tour, Dan Sultan has been announced as special guest for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s 2014 Melbourne show alongside reformed Australian rock & roll legends Hunters and Collectors and the Hunter Valley show alongside The Rubens.

It will be a change of scenery for Sultan, who has been busy recording his third studio album, due for release in the first half of 2014. This time, he has teamed up with acclaimed producer Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Of Monsters and Men, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, The Editors, Modest Mouse) in the legendary music town of Nashville.

The Butterfly Effect’s “Effected” Tops ARIA Chart

The Butterfly Effect’s Effected documentary and live DVD set has smashed its way to #1 this week on the ARIA Music DVD charts, knocking off P!nk and Andre Rieu in the process.

“I’m loving that an honest story of an Aussie rock band can still trump the overseas competition,” said Butterfly Effect drummer and DVD producer Ben Hall. “The DVD is a warts and all account of our career to this point as well as the last ever tour with singer Clint Boge, so it’s a fitting way to close such an important chapter for us with our first ever #1.”

One of the most iconic catalogues in Australian music will be brought into a new era with Cold Chisel announcing the formation of their own label imprint and a change of distributor in Australia and New Zealand.

It’s been over 35 years since Cold Chisel signed a recording contract with WEA (now known as Warner Music) and since that time the band has sold over six million albums. The rights to all of Cold Chisel’s recordings recently reverted to the band for the first time so they have now decided to form their own imprint, Cold Chisel Music. They have also decided to shift their distribution to the Universal Music Group in order to inject a fresh energy into the marketing and promotion of their music. This will be effective from October 1, 2013.

CRUCIBLE – THE SONGS OF HUNTERS & COLLECTORS

Many would say that Talking To A Stranger remains one of the most instantly recognisable songs released by Hunters & Collectors when it pre-empted the release of their debut self-titled album way back in 1982.

Now, more than 30 years later, it is once again the first single, but this time from Crucible – The Songs Of Hunters & Collectors, and equally importantly it comes from another great Australian rock band in Birds of Tokyo.

Birds of Tokyo formed in Perth as a five piece alternative rock band in 2004. Since then, they have released 4 hugely successful albums including their recent #1 album March Fires featuring hit singles This Fire & Lanterns.

LISTEN: The Monicans new single ‘Go Away’ (Music Stream)

MONICANS emerged from the ether of the cityscape of Perth in 2007, instantly lulling the local scene into a sense of bliss with their psychedelia-drenched rock-punk-pop stylings. After the advent of their demo EP, they mounted a charge into a brave new world, hitting Europe in 2009 with their big white van and even bigger experimental sounds, sleeping in parking lots and bringing music to the people.

Consisting of gleaming guitar and vox provided by PAUL BEARD, bass maestro and fellow singer HEATHER LONIE, and rounded out by the tricky stylings of drummer GLEN KOFALVI, the first taste of the forthcoming debut album is lead single GO AWAY, transcending their roots with their most ambitious, diverse offering of rock and roll and punk rock experimental pop melodies yet.
