DEEP SEA ARCADE have spent the best part of the last year living in the UK, soaking up the culture and imparting some of their own as they lay down their sophomore record, quickly creating the same buzz in their temporary home of London which lead to them being one of Sydney’s most respected indie acts.
The new single ‘Black Cat’ is the first from the band’s new album (slated for early 2014), the follow-up to their 2012 debut Outlands, the global success of which led to the band’s extended sojourn to the UK. Recorded and mixed by Dan Grech-Margueray (Lana Del Rey, The Vaccines, Howling Bells, The Kooks), the band will return to Australia to celebrate Black Cat’s release with a string of Australian capital city shows in September and October.

Having just performed a special one off headline set at Splendour In The Grass last month, The National will return to Australia in the summer of 2014 with their intense and sophisticated brand of heartfelt rock. In what will be their first headline shows in Australia since their sold out 2010 tour, the Cincinnati 5 piece will perform at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, The Thebarton in Adelaide, Brisbane’s Riverstage, the Sydney Opera House Forecourt – the first contemporary music performance to be announced at the venue after 2.5 years of renovations – and the Belvoir Amphitheatre as part of Perth Festival.
A band of brothers, The National features two sets of siblings; Aaron Dessner (guitar/keys) and his twin Bryce (guitar), plus Scott Devendorf (bass) and his brother Bryan (drums), abetted by the glorious baritone of vocalist Matt Berninger. The band were already up to their fourth album, Boxer (2007), when they first captivated Australian audiences in the early weeks of 2008, selling out shows as word of their scintillating live show spread like wildfire.

Nile Rodgers and Chic have announced they will be playing a series of national dates to bring their feel-good, fun-time hit parade to venues across the country.
By the time CHIC appeared in the late ’70s, they bucked the trend by stripping disco’s sound down to its basic elements; their funky, stylish grooves had an organic sense of interplay that was missing from many of their overproduced competitors.
CHIC’s sound was anchored by the scratchy, James Brown-style rhythm guitar of Nile Rodgers and those indelible, widely imitated (sometimes outright stolen) bass lines; as producers, they used keyboard and string embellishments economically, which kept the emphasis on rhythm.

Hailing from Chicago, deathcore outfit Oceano are pleased to announce they will finally be reaching our shores this coming October.
After unfortunately having to postpone their first trip to our shores late last year the band are armed with their latest offering Incisions which is due to hit stores on October 1 – just in time for the tour.
Last week saw Oceano release the title track of the new record Incisions across the internet as a teaser of what’s to come from the full length and has been described as ‘deathcore’s answer to a power ballad’ and ‘not just your run-of-the-mill deathcore chugfest.’

Lorde has revealed that her anticipated debut LP, Pure Heroine, will be released in Australia on 27 September 2013 via Universal Music. She will be performing a handful of shows in support of the release this October.
The 16 year old New Zealander was widely anointed as the highlight of this year’s Splendour in the Grass after she was called in to replace Frank Ocean at the 11th hour. An estimated 10,000 fans crammed into the Super Top to catch Lorde’s ten song set, which comprised favourites from her debut EP and 5 brand new tracks. After strong demand from his league of dedicated fans, and following two sold-out shows in his hometown of Melbourne earlier this year, Dan Sultan is happy to announce a national tour for his Back To Basics solo show. It will give his fans the opportunity to hear his inspired collection of new material in its rawest form, played live in a stripped-back and intimate environment.
As well as his national headline tour, Dan Sultan has been announced as special guest for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s 2014 Melbourne show alongside reformed Australian rock & roll legends Hunters and Collectors and the Hunter Valley show alongside The Rubens.
It will be a change of scenery for Sultan, who has been busy recording his third studio album, due for release in the first half of 2014. This time, he has teamed up with acclaimed producer Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Of Monsters and Men, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, The Editors, Modest Mouse) in the legendary music town of Nashville.

The Butterfly Effect’s Effected documentary and live DVD set has smashed its way to #1 this week on the ARIA Music DVD charts, knocking off P!nk and Andre Rieu in the process.
“I’m loving that an honest story of an Aussie rock band can still trump the overseas competition,” said Butterfly Effect drummer and DVD producer Ben Hall. “The DVD is a warts and all account of our career to this point as well as the last ever tour with singer Clint Boge, so it’s a fitting way to close such an important chapter for us with our first ever #1.”
