Black Label Society – The Song Remains not the Same

Taking its cues from the ballad style tracks which were flung through Order Of The Black, The Song Remains Not The Same is half unplugged reworking of tracks seen on Order of the Black and half new material, including a Christmas carol (sans words) to round out what is essentially an album of power ballads . The recording begins with a stripped-back-to-basics version of ‘Overlord’. The new version still sounds great, reminiscent of a listening experience post concert with the band at 3am in a hotel room with only acoustic guitars. The brief solo is played

impeccably and marks this song as Black Label Society rather than a cover version of the track which it could otherwise easily be mistaken for.

It is refreshing when rather than trying to sell a pop song to the masses, a band plays the music they love. Kitty, Daisy & Lewis have done so with their sophomore release Smoking In Heaven. This family affair, consisting of three siblings from London, has produced some infectiously catchy songs in the past and this album is no exception. There are numerous contrasting elements, such that it cannot easily be pigeonholed and to say that they exist in a sub-genre is an understatement. KD&L (Kitty, Daisy & Lewis) have made music inspired by classic genres of yesteryear, tied together with its own unique modern twist.

What a great ending to six years on the Val de Moine site in Clisson with in total over 320 000 festival-goers!

Once again, no major incidents occurred during this year’s edition, respectful behavior which has always put a sock in all of the metal-hater’s mouths! Our festival was yet again an example of respect, brotherhood and mutual aid. Yes, thanks to you all, the Metal community has definitely won the French public’s sympathy.

As part of the 10th Anniversary celebrations, tonight Alicia Keys is performing songs from her debut album, ‘Songs in A Minor,’ and more as part of her “Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys” concert at New York City’s Beacon Theater on June 30, 2011.
This year marks the 10-year anniversary of the Grammy-award winning record, which Alicia says is a testament to being herself and feeling she “should’ve been born in the ’70s.”

Letting It Go….for the last time in a while!

With a new tour about to start, talent-soaked Gold Coast quartet TIJUANA CARTEL crawled from the wreckage of their Nimbin farmhouse-turned-recording studio this week to the sound of their latest single ‘Letting It Go’ blaring from alternative radio. After three weeks of pressing record, stop and rewind, the band emerged with their new album completed. Housed on laptops and hard drives, the tunes now enter the next phase of their life and have been whisked away to mix-master supremo Magoo for the final spit and polish.

San Cisco are proud to present second single ‘Girls Do Cry’ from their debut EP, Golden Revolver . Shot in New York by an independent fashion design collective, the track’s vintage-inspired clip was a lucky discovery. San Cisco drummer, Scarlett Stevens, uncovered the piece of footage by chance, posted on an underground fashion blog ‘Cat Party”. After introduction, Hannah Metz–clip co-director and slumber party beauty–thought the passage a perfect fit for Girls Do Cry. The women seen in the video are all independent fashion designers themselves.

CLARE BOWDITCH Margaret River Settler’s Hotel show cancelled

Unfortunately due to personal reasons Clare Bowditch’s performance at Settler’s Tavern in Margaret River on Saturday July 9th 2011 has been cancelled. Clare hopes to return to the Margaret River region to perform in the future and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause fans.

All tickets to the Margaret River show are valid for the Perth show at The Bakery on Friday July 8th 2011 or alternatively purchased tickets can be refunded from the venue or point of purchase.
