Charlie Mayfair – ‘Waste Me’ [Official Music Video]

‘Waste Me’ is a commanding slice of frantic-paced pop, once again featuring the fervent vocal of the group’s co-lead vocalist Hannah Shepherd and bolstered by the savvy production muscle of Brisbane’s Matt Redlich (Hungry Kids of Hungary, Ball Park Music, emma louise) – it certainly is Charlie Mayfair like you’ve never heard them before. Since the percussive ‘Tell Her’ laced national and community radio airwaves, the guitars have been turned up, the drums have become more feverish and the melodies have been sharpened to pop supremacy.

Geoffrey Rush in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum – 12 Weeks Only. Melbourne Only.

12 Weeks Only. Melbourne Only.
Her Majesty’s Theatre – From 20 October 2012

Academy®, Tony® and Emmy Award® winner Geoffrey Rush returns to his true home on stage in the absurdly funny musical A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, under the direction of Simon Phillips (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), this shamelessly retro musical pays homage to vintage vaudeville in an orgy of classic theatrical comedy, bawdy stage high jinks and sensational slapstick.

Geoffrey Rush bounds onto stage as the scheming slave Pseudolus, attempting to win his freedom from the henpecked Senex and his overbearing wife, Domina. When he learns his master’s dim-witted son has fallen in love with a virgin courtesan, he seizes the opportunity to secure his release.

The Owls

The Owls are a four-piece indie rock band from Newcastle, Australia. The Triple J Unearthed winners have been at it since 2008, touring with the likes of Gyroscope, The Living End, The Jezabels, Cloud Control and Phrase to name a few.

The Owls have taken the fast-paced elements of alternative rock, thrown in a liberal lashing of progressive southern dustiness and mixed in touches of ethereal dissonance to make a style all their own.

All Along the Watchtower
Mike Pachelli will help you learn all the parts to “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix. The song was written and recorded by Bob Dylan in 1967, but Hendrix recorded it a year later. The recording of “All Along the Watchtower” began at Olympia Studios in London early 1968, but was finished in the summer of ’68 at the Record Plant in New York City. Hendrix wasn’t satisfied with what he had recorded in London, so in order to complete the song, many tracks had to be erased to make room for new takes.

Mike plays a Gibson Custom Les Paul Axcess Standard in this lesson.

Three stages, eight hours of non-stop music and a variety of genres spanning from indie-folk to heavy metal, Brisbane’s 4 Walls Festival is an event geared to bring you the very best of Australia’s freshest up-and-coming talent. Now in its third year, the all ages event has seen the likes of Matt Corby and Last Dinosaurs take to the stage in the past, right before they were swept up into the loving arms of our nation. This year’s festival boasts a similar caliber of talent with The Paper Kites, The Medics, Millions, Cub Scouts, The Belligerents and Fairchild Republic announced as festival headliners.

Held at the Queensland Academy of Creative Industries in the heart of Kelvin Grove’s urban village, 4 Walls was launched by Youth Music Industries in 2010 who saw a gap in the all ages market. Initially set up to provide new musicians with the chance of gaining festival experience alongside some fresh Aussie talent, the festival has flourished into a hotly anticipated sell-out event.

Emma Louise – “Boy” [Official Music Video]

‘Boy’ is the latest offering from Brisbane’s emma louise and, so far, has not only slipped in perfectly as the fitting follow-up single to last year’s spectacularly popular ‘Jungle’, but also the first glimpse into a future full length album.

The brand new video, shot in Brisbane and directed and produced by Alex Barnes of Silver Screen Pictures, depicts the story effortlessly. Everybody has known somebody like the central character portrayed in the song – as emma disappointingly, yet frankly tells it: “All you do is sit around, spending time, smoking cigarettes”. However there is a hint of optimism as the video progresses and emma admits that she still believes.
